thanks to all. It appears the 2000 mile mark is a high number now. But being hung out in some hotel with no loads coming my way is a big concern too. Waiting out the unemployment checks is not an option. I am afraid the economy is so bad that this industry will not recover, or it will be a much watered down version of what it was before. Regardless of that its a step i must take, and I shall succeed because the fire that keeps me going is not wanting to become homeless. Heck I am going to enjoy the opportunity to join this industry in which professionalism and a caring brotherhood does rule the day.

Professionalism and a caring brotherhood in the trucking industry went out the door years ago.

Don't fool yourself. When you are out on the road you cant count on anyone but you these days.

Made it thru 2 day orientation at Werner and await a trainer.
3 of class of are gone on the road already with a trainer. 2 dollar Lunch tickets assigned during training for vending machine purchases. The orientation went smoothly. Some introduction to Qualcomm, and mostly reviewing Werner Employee Handbook, Safe Driving procedures, contact departments, employee benefit sign up or just introductory materal of benefit plans.
