Its same as using the clutch but at least how I do it I don't rev the truck as high as I would with a clutch mainly its too much pressure and won't come outta gear or if it does rpms aren't right to go straight to the next gear. Floating takes knowing the equipment, timing, and patients. I learned in a wk when I 1st started. High side is easier than low. I didn't realize you were new just thought you were a SA. My bad.

    "Floating" is shifting without using the clutch, by matching the RPM on the engine with the RPM on the transmission. Hard to learn, but invaluable.

    how do you float gears ?? not familiar with the technique ..
