You can go down a grade too slow as many times as you want, but you can go down too fast only once!

    +1

My father also told this to me a slightly different way, but same idea.

You can go around a corner too slow as many times as you want, but you only have one chance to go around the corner too fast.

    Don't tug on superman's cape :). Ask
Any question that pops into your head
(No dumb question) . Always be aware
Of whats around you (on road, in parking lot
Or walking) . Use your head. Think one move
Ahead. You will be fine! (Thats a few tips)
be safe, and best of luck to you!

but dont expect it in return!!!!! Running into that now with normal board dbl. send messages in, he'll do what I ask, but not tell me. THEN when I get frustrated about not hearing from him, I'll call and feel like I'm being bothersome.

Thank you all for the tips! I like the grade/corner ones especially.

A fellow classmate was telling me about this the other day - said he had to learn it for driving school bus, and highly recommended me to read it. I guess now that it has been brought up to me twice now, I ought to click the link. Thanks!

I had a great day in school today. I'm kickin' butt at backing. Out of 1.5 hours of 90 degree/alley docks, I only had to use my free pull up twice. My downshifting is doing tons better - I'm finally getting it through my thick head that I need to start slowing down sooner, and faster. This actually buys me enough time to go down through the gears. I think I'm ready for the big CDL test with the examiner on Saturday.

Here's a piece of advice I've learned from my stepfather and grandfather, who have had a combined sixty years experience driving.

"The day you think you know everything about trucking, take that CDL out of your wallet, get a pair scissors, and cut it up. You no longer need it."

Find out if your dbl has ever driven a truck,or still lives at home with his mommy. It helps to have one that actually understands.
Know when to leave,I wasted waay too much time hoping things would take a turn for the better.
