I want to hear from you. Moderators, I don't know if I picked the right forum, if not, please PM me and I'll adjust accordingly.
I worked for them formerly. 11 years total and I have been in a few locations. Rotterdam, NY which is now relocated to Cranbury, NJ. I was in Orlando, FL for the last four. I've also pinch hit in Garner, NC and Phoenix, AZ. I'm very familiar with the way they run things in multiple locations.
The place got so bad, I was one of the people fighting for the blatant abuse of hours of service, especially after the implementation of their new computer routing system.
I was fired for giving a driver a lead to another job when he was complaining he was so exhausted. Right to work state...
It's a physically demanding job, fair enough. The money is good, but then so is drug dealing if you want to do something illegal for a living.
I brought my concerns in front of the proper people. I gave PJ's the chance to fix it internally with an exit letter, and to my knowledge, they did nothing.
What I need is honest people to back me up with honest information as to their operating practices. If you are, or know a former driver for Trans Papa Logistics, Cardinal Logistics, Worldwide Dedicated (or Team One, a daughter company), I would like to hear from you via PM.
I'm addressing three things.
1. HOS - they run teams and fully exploit it. If you've been there, you know.
2. Workplace conditions (bad store access and poorly loaded trailers that make walking and lifting hazardous)
3. The nasty empty trays. Once again, if you have hauled for PJ's - you know.
I would ask you to provide your name and the dates you worked there, and possibly a brief statement via email or PM here, to give my allegations a little more weight. Somebody else mentioned here that they approached DOT in New Jersey, and they said they wouldn't do anything about it until they heard from more people. So, a few more need to speak up.
It's only being done in the name of safety for the greater good. If you have anything to contribute, please contact me.
Thanks.
If you ever pulled a Papa John's trailer

I tried the PJ thing last fall in Pittsburgh with Cardinal. They team you up with another driver and you make around 15 stops in anywhere from 20 to 36 hours (depending where you were going) then have the next day off. It is alot of work toting around a dolly that has like 300 pounds of product on it. When I tried this job last year they serviced MD western PA, OH, and northern VA and MI. The Michigan stores took like 36 hours to complete. I do believe that they exploit the drivers. They run you ragged if you ask me.---Ya trying to get the product into the store sucked. You had to navigate around their front counter if you went in through the front door.

SmoothShifter,
I PM'd you earlier. If you need more, letn me know.
TDriver4Life,
Pj Pittsburgh was the WORST job that I have ever had. I ran for them under WDS in 2007-2008 for six months. In 12 years of driving(4 in HH goods and 8 in foodservice) it was the worst job ever. I woke up everyday dreeding to go to work!Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I did get your PM and thank you.
In Florida in the past, you would come off a 30+ hour run and they would want you to go back out, if there was a sale or promo going on. We were running dispatches with less than 2 hours of downtime before the next one with the way the computer was building the trips.
Don't get me wrong - I'm old school and a runner, and hate crybaby's, but enough is enough.
Now they're bringing the 48' trailers to above 2400 in cube, which means no room to work - at all. The company has become completely greedy and is going to kill somebody so they can push a $10 pizza out the door.
With what they did to me, I could sue the living dog-crap out of them, but I don't want to taint or take away from my new gig. It's in the past - I'm out.
I just want it to stop before someone falls asleep at the wheel and either kills themselves, their co-driver or an innocent family on the highways.
Thanks for your responses.
mrhoss Thanks this. -
I was beginning to think I was the only one that run 20 hr trips.
Nothing but greed at our expense. -
I believe when I started I was told that they had a driver fall asleep on their way back.

I bet you have worked for a union company, or you really want to. Going to DOT crying, what do plan to accomplish? You may mess up someone's job that likes the way they do things. If you dont like a company quit and find somewhere else to work. Stop crying and snitching. If you are teaming what do you expect? A thousand mile run out and two days off after you complete it? Teams work thats the way it is. You have fourteen hours a day to work. Then a ten hour break. Thirty-four hour restart. Is your company maxing out your seventy hours? DOT cant help it if your tired and running team. If your not rested after ten hours off its you fault.
Eskimo6804 and grimesjm1 Thank this. -
Why do you call it "snitching"?
He has an opinion, and people make their own decisions where to work. -
Ok lets see snitching. Well I dont like what your doing so I will call DOT. Then go search for more people to join. What is it, if its not snitching? If you have a problem at your company and they wont fix it find somewhere else to work.
The Road Dog and grimesjm1 Thank this.
