i think you misunderstood who my statement was directed at. i was directing that to the people complaining about snitching on a company that runs its workers ragged. thanks

Ummm no, it is by no means legal to sleep or be on the top bunk while the truck is in motion. Get caught doing it and see what happens.

I'd love to see the official law stating that. I had a conversation with a former ops manager a while back that told me the same thing, and when I researched it, found that as long as the top bunk had a safety restraining system, ie: a net and seat-belts, it is okay. The condos they use have restraints.

Because if it was illegal, they couldn't get away with 2 guys logging bunk time and being properly restrained while in motion. Not that anyone really uses them, but it's yet another technicality they are exploiting.

I was just shaking my head at the absurdity of it. Not a fail of a post, but a fail of a situation.

I've been looking for good local work for the past month and there are a lot of so-called "local" or "home every week" stuff where you've got to run complete outlaw dodging toll booths and weigh stations.

For a lot of these outfits, the solution to run legal is teaming people up but not telling you until you are hired that you will have to run team. Then good luck with your DAC if you leave. It is a mess.

Oh, and by the way, home 2 days a week means getting in late Friday and leaving back out Saturday night.

I used to work for PJ's out of the Jackson, Mississippi commissary for Ryder.

I burned my bridges behind me when I left, and I don't regret it one bit.

Bamanation, no one sould be made to run illegally, nor to work unsafely. I'm a 44 year ,almost 45 year veteran OTR driver, and I've seen them ALL.
If YOU want to "suck it up" and say nothing, go for it.Iit's still a free country, and if that driver wants to bring tem to cases,I say'let it ROLL"

He was reacting because he really wasn't grasping what I was getting at. Only the former drivers who worked for this company knew exactly what I was talking about.

I know lots of guys who run team, and actually get some sleep. A guy I knew left them and went to running auto parts where each driver got a good solid 8 hours of uninterrupted bunk time. Whole different game than what they were doing. I say were, because I'm long gone, and would sleep in a rail car before I ran one of their trucks ever again.

I'm sure they're still bending the rules. The guy who resurrected this thread hasn't been back on yet. I'll bet it's because he was broke and has been in a truck non-stop since he started.

Busiest time of the year in the pizza business. Especially today.

typical of why the way things are today, the only good thing is the likes of the drivers putting up with it are dwindling

all youse doing is scratching the doggie's back. of course, the company is going to push the cart until the wheels fall off. alls we can do is stay ahead of the poser's who are milking our cow and try to keep a smile while we're kissing management's left toe...
