Any new company had an IFTA audit in first year? Didn’t understand procedures, didn’t file correctly, now all quarters are not accurate along with records. Only haul own product. Low miles. Will they be lenient or understanding?

Travel less than 10,000 year. Just total undereducated on ifta process. Just going to be open and honest? I feel like that is right thing to do.

As long as you have records of where the trips went (invoices, time cards probably), dig out your fuel receipts and it'll be easy enough to reconstruct 10K miles a year. You've already paid a fair portion of the tax at the pump (assuming you didn't pull a real bonehead move such as running red diesel). Have everything ready and organized for the audit.
You'll probably get a penalty and have to pay back taxes, if any. Oh, well. Learn and go on.Oxbow, Rideandrepair and broke down plumber Thank this. -

I got ifta audit my first year and passed . I agree the record keeping they want you to do is a bit redundant.. but it's part of it.. arizona dot provides a trip sheet to fill out that makes it a little easier to keep track of every load and the info they want u to keep.. that's the only thing that saved me from getting disorganized
Rideandrepair and Jonni Thank this. -
It’s too late to amend it now. Two things can happen: they can not pull that quarter and then it never happened, or they pull it and you just have to deal with the consequences.
But we’re talking about 2 or three tanks of fuel for a quarter. You can come up with the fuel receipts, right?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Ifta auditors use Promiles. They plug in zip codes from your log book, input data from your fuel receipts and see how the result matches your Ifta filings.
Rideandrepair Thanks this.
