Exactly. I actually like IFTA and IRP better than the old way. Before you ran into situations where you'd buy fuel in one sate and pay taxes again for it in another. With IFTA you only pay for the fuel you burn in any particular state, I've actually had a refund at the end of the quarter where I bought fuel in a high tax state and done a bunch of running in a low tax state.
I also like the way the new IRP is. You used to have to declare all the states you planned on running in each year, then you'd have to buy individual permits to run in states you didn't list. Now you are good for 49 states and most (if not all) of Canada. You just post your mileage at renewal and they apportion it accordingly.
