Historically the previous year's IFTA is good until March 1st. MArch 1st is the enforcement date if the truck does not have the IFTA registration and decals displayed. There are exceptions such as the company's IFTA has been cancelled, revoked or suspended.

Thanks for the correction--Kind of wondered why no one ever said anything about expired IFTA the couple of years it happened(don't remember which--like I said in my post "I just figured"--Actually never realized there was 90 period--either way IFTA Stickers always seem to show up about the begining of DEC--But thanks for clearing this up.

I was recently asked how to dispute a missing IFTA sticker violation from a roadside inspection for a driver. You are given a specific window and is not typically enforced until March 1. However, how can you dispute something that should have been included in making sure that your vehicle compliant prior to driving off the location of pick up. I know from driving myself it can be aggravating when you find something like this and you get cited for it, however in the past it was towards the company. This is not the case now Inspection violations can stay with a driver upto 36 months and a company for 24 months, so best practice check absolutely everything on your vehicle maintenance and permits, before getting behind the wheel and save yourself alot of aggravation and citations.

The carrier can Data Q or challenge the violation listed on the report. However, if you didn't have on why would they remove the violation? Just because your the driver and drove it without the decal/registration or temporary trip permit? I highly doubt any Agency will remove the violation from the report.
