Residential school yes, scrapping the Kelowna Accord bad. The conservatives have managed to rack up the biggest deficit in Canadian history, Canadians have lost good paying jobs to foreign countries. We have sold out our resources to foreign countries and if it wasn't for the Premier of Saskatchewan the potash would be gone too. The high dollar is causing huge impacts on manufacturing jobs inflation is starting to get out of control. The price we pay for fuel is out of control. Home heating and electricity costs our becoming huge burdens. But we are giving corporate tax cuts? Harper has NOT done a good job with the economy. The only people saying the Conservatives are doing a good job are the Conservatives. High dollar + high commodity prices = big profits for resource companies that are now mainly foreign owned. Foreign owned corps pay foreign taxes, not Canadian taxes. I am not an economist but this appears to be bad to me. If we take away the tax breaks for oil sands it will not shut down the projects. Have you heard, we have a shortage of oil.
Money gets shuffled around and profits are only made by the mother corp, which is in another country. We still get taxes such as property taxes and stumpage fees but taxes on corporate profits is non-existent.
Are you saying that Imperial Oil which is a CANADIAN company doesn't file tax returns in Canada ???? Post a link to back up your accusations.
Canada is an independent constitutional monarchy, a confederation with parliamentary democracy. So yes it is a democracy. Another term for this form of government is "Crowned Republic" which is not at all contradictory but, rather, quite accurate as it describes the power of the people in its relation to the crown. Imperial Oil is a Canadian company majority owned by Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil Corp. which holds 69.6 per cent of Imperial's shares. It does pay taxes in Canada of course but its hardly a Canadian company.
The point I was making is that it was Incorpoarated in Canada and as such they file tax returns here. I know you're aware of that but end of the road thinks otherwise. Just like his comment about the $2 Biilion oil sands incentive, he says take it away and it won't make any difference. I remember Trudeau and the National Energy program. I made a hell of a lot of money within a year and half as I was responsible for 87 drilling rigs leaving Canada to go mainly to the USA and ports in Texas to go to other foreign counteries. I also happen to own some Imperial Oil shares but you don't have my name on your list. lol lol
The Alberta Government. Been Conservative for 40 years. Was DEBT FREE a few years ago AND has squirrelled away $15 BILLION in the Alberta Heritage trust fund.
