IITR Or Elite Truck School Oregon

Do you still double clutch? The company your working for allows you to do that? I thought that was hard on the truck...

 

According to the transmission manufacturer you are supposed to always double clutch,see any of the youtube videos posted by Eaton.
That said most drivers float most shifts.
I double clutch some of the time,mostly if I'm in a hurry to downshift.
Well I did at my last job anyway before I got stuck with this goofy autoshift 10 speed lol.
By the way IITR grad here,went to Clackamas and enjoyed my time there.

 

I am currently at Elite doing class. Very good training. Nice people and small classes are great. The staff has lots experience and so far I am impressed for the money spent.

 

I went to the clackamas site. To get my CDL back after ten years of being out of trucking. I had an issue with one of the instructors. But other than that it was well done.

 

Week 2 at Elite and we took our test today at DMV... Passed em all with the endorsements. I didnt take HAZMAT but took the rest and passed all. Elite has
really loaded us with info and the class has been meaningful and well prepared.
Not sure but ITTR sure its a great school but ELITE has been doing us well with training....

 

I attended IITR in 2010, they are a great school! The one i went to was in Central Point, OR and they has a good range of equipment. The classes were fast paced but easy to understand..The DMV test went very easy as was the Driving Test...they are very technical on the inspections and the yard work but i found that those things helped keep me out of violations at the scale. I would say they are a GREAT company..ask for Bud and tell Him James Epperson says hello...

 

I am looking attending IITR in Redmond as well. One note of interest that stuck with me in researching schools and Trucking Companies, IITR is a Accredited School by the DOT. Many trucking companies are looking for this when your applying, so that has been sticking with me in my research. For those of you that attended IITR, did you have you CDL written tests done before you attended the school, and did any of you use the study course online that let's you practice the testing in all areas that are required for endorsement? I'm looking forward to starting a new career.

 

I started using the practice tests online before attending school (IITR Clackamas) and found them to be a great help.
I took my tests during the 1st week of school,took 5 in all so I got my Hazmat,tanker,doubles/triples etc.
Did them all in one sitting and passed all with ease.

 

Y2K, do you remember which online course it was? There are many to choose from, and some are probably better than others. Sounds like you were happy with the one you choose. Thanks for your help.

 

Sorry I really don't,I'd just try a few and find one that is easy for you to work with,they should all be basically the same as far as what you need to learn.
By the way I lived in LaPine for a while back in the 1970's,went to high school in Bend.
