Yes.....BUT the legislation was passed into law during Obama's term, in 2012. The final rule making for the ELDT portion was conducted in 2015. The only thing that happened during Trump's term was that the final rule was published in 2016, (before he assumed office in 2017) then suspended, then republished with an effective date AND the extension after his term had ended. So, using the dates YOU JUST posted, is it STILL Trump's ELDT rule? And before you go there, I am NOT a Trump fan. I am a fan of consistency and if I am going to criticize someone, I prefer to do it without making #### up.exhausted379 Thanks this.

Yes, it is Trump's rule. If he, Elaine Chao, or any of the revolving door of FMCSA heads had wanted to change it they could have. If they hadn't delayed it for a year before rubber stamping it, my tune would be different. The Trump administration had every opportunity to change or rescind ELDT. Once back in office, the Trump administration could be at least ensuring compliance but instead cut FMCSA funding and staff.

So even though ALL of the legwork was done under Obama, and implemented under Biden, it's still Trumps baby? Are you this dumb naturally, or did it take decades of practice?exhausted379 Thanks this.

Trump effectively canceled the ELDT rule. Fine, dandy even.
Then a year later Trump republishes the rule. His administration had a year to make any changes they wanted, but chose not to. That gives them ownership.
Even if we absolve Trump from the rule's creation, as ELDT was implemented the Trump administration did NOTHING to ensure ELDT providers were acting in compliance with either the letter or the spirit of the rule. Fill out some forms and POOF, you're a certified instructor with no oversight.OlegMel Thanks this. -
If you look into things with CDLs and all other deportations and other crazy mess that’s happening. It’s a sign that our economy is failing bad. And that’s the real issue. Everything else is just a distraction. Same thing happened twice in the past century during economic hardship. Than government eases on things because USA can’t exist without immigrants, and we print more money and repeat the cycle.
