And while I'm at it, I'd also like to apologize for this. You are right. Uncalled for and ignorant. My apologies.

From my link:
"The Washington Post stated:
“Trump’s repeated statements about immigrants and crime underscore a common public perception that crime is correlated with immigration, especially illegal immigration. But that is a misperception; no solid data support it, and the data that do exist negate it.”
But the GAO’s numbers do support that perception. Namely that illegals and non-citizens make up 3% and 8% of the population, respectively, but commit at least 22% to 37% of the murders. Illegals likely commit murder at about 10 times the rate of all U.S. inhabitants."
This is hard data. Illegals likely commit murder at about 10 times the rate of all US inhabitants when you crunch the percentages and make the comparisons per capita. That's the school I went to. And when you factor in they shouldn't even be here, there are almost 26,000 crimes being committed that are entirely preventable. You're playing semantics.
Yet you would diminish almost 26,000 crimes inferring it's no big deal, Americans commit more crimes without looking at the hard data. My point was we don't need to import criminals, we have enough criminals of our own.
Reality is fluid? What does the seven countries banned on a list have to do with my comment?sdaniel Thanks this. -
Not at all. I'm talking real numbers. Percentage-wise yes, you are correct. I never said otherwise. I said more Americans kill Americans than anyone else. Singular statement. Real numbers. That is fact. Now, if we had 30 million illegal immigrants in this country committing murders than you would be correct, according to those percentages, if they held up. But we don't do we? So again, I stand by my statement.
Again, not at all. I don't diminish anything. I never said it's ok that illegals kill people in this country. Don't put words in my mouth. I said one thing. Americans kill more Americans. That's all. Nada, zip, nothing else. That is a fact. 115k is larger than 25k. It doesn't get easier than that.
That was a throw in. If this recent ban in immigration was really about safety why isn't Mexico, or any of the other south American countries listed in your study on the ban list? The study clearly shows who is committing the crimes, as far as prison numbers and immigrants, illegal or not. Yet not one of those countries is on the ban. Only Islamic countries. And not one of the countries on the ban were one of the countries that we KNOW 9/11 perpetrators were from. Perhaps because the Donald has financial interest in those countries? Just a theory.

It's not hard data. It's overstated drastically. I linked you an article that explained exactly where that quote came from and how it was manipulated.
There are people on BOTH sides who are more than happy to lie to win an argument. Don't be one of those people. Those people actually are the problem.
Since this thread has degenerated into politics let me be clear: everything wrong with our politics today comes from the fact that we're all just trying to win the #### argument. We would rather that the whole country fail than the other side be right. We just saw this happen for 8 years with Obama and now we can clearly see Liberals gearing up to do the exact same thing. Nothing would make them sadder than Trump making things any better. Because that would mean they were wrong.
I could give less of a #### who said something, I want to actually be right. And the only way to be certain that I'm right is to carefully think about every single thing both sides say. And then discuss it. And then think about it again. It's a long and drawn out process and I'll probably never see the world exactly the way anyone else does. That's just part of being human. I accept that my viewpoint is warped and isn't a perfect reflection of reality, and because of that uncertainty I find it very difficult to vilify anyone who isn't an actual hilariously obvious villain. Like if you own a strip club or a payday lender you're probably a villain, but it's not even a given lol. I'm sure there are pimps and loan sharks with hearts of gold out there somewhere. -
I'm not trying to WIN anything. In fact, I know I'm not going to win anything here. I'm simply trying to state a differing opinion. And from what I've seen so far on this board, being liberal is definitely a differing opinion. I know I'm outnumbered by far. At least by the vocals.
What I believe is actually wrong with politics in this country is there are only two relevant parties to pick from. And they are diametrically opposed to everything, for the sake of opposition. Even when one party decides to implement something the other party promoted 4 or 8 years earlier, that original party gets up in arms and claims it's devils work simply because it's the other party. It's silly. We need to figure out a way to make other parties viable, and get past this Dem-Rep thing.
Case in point: McConnell stating that Dems are setting a new precedent by trying to block the SCOTUS nominee. Now let me think for about a mili second where that was done before.....or even the ACA which wasn't really all that far off of a plan floated by the GOP not long ago.
That shift, back and forth, with both parties being at fault, causes our political issues and arguments. Although I prefer to think of them as debates since I'd still be willing to sit and have this debate over a pint with anyone who has a differing opinion. I don't take it personal. And the rare times I let it get that way, I clear the air and apologize for such if needed.

Let me simplify that a little.
For me, I lean left, obviously.
But on some topics, healthcare and gun control for example, I lean hard left. On others I am middle to left.
Folks on the right do the same.
However, we only have the left and right to chose from, realistically.
That's why I say we need more involvement from other parties to create a middle that many of us would love to meet in.
We also need the willingness to create that, and so far, that hasn't been there.

What I want to use the internet for is to get all truck drivers in North america to go to those Carrier job recruitment pages or Kijiji job postings and give a reply with only "Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? ...". I would be curious to see if after 6 months, the industry gets the hint when such a high % of the replies to their ads are full of spam just stating "Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? Pay? ....". So sick of seeing truckers getting ####ed around when they are the ones with the true power. It's just they are all divided and feel alone. There is no reason to feel that way, just look online or ask any 5 truckers how they feel. The internet is the perfect tool to make a movement bigger than any Union.
misterG Thanks this. -
Won't work. Know why? I gotta feed my kids. You gotta feed your kids. Neither one of us is going to sacrifice OUR kids for the other. And there are 1000 people behind you ready to take your spot so they can feed their kids.
Now, when you start designing rockets, or doing heart transplants, you can have some power. Til then, sorry, but your replaceable. Driving a truck, though not easy I'm sure, isn't rocket science.

And by law you are required to bring your weapon home and it must be operational after you have completed your military service.
2 things have concerned me after witnessing the social events and train of thought that is occurring lately.
If we were to be attacked on our home turf by a large Foreign country ie Russia or China , promising a new Social World with Peace and Harmony.
1st would the country unite and fend off these invaders , or would the liberals fall for the New World Order of the invading Country.
2nd. When it did come time to fight , do you think this liberal generation is ready to get behind a gun and pull the trigger to defend our freedom ?
I was never a history buff until I met my exgirlfriend 17 years ago, who had just secured her green card along with her parents , moving to Florida from Milan Italy.
Listening to the stories of her mother and father tell of how both their fathers were kidnapped by the Germans and drafted into the Italian Fascist army was scary reality to me.
A gun held to their parents heads while being asked are they a Fascist. Forced to fight in a army they wanted nothing to do with.
One father being caught by the Americans while fighting in southern Italy the other by the Brits in North Africa.
The humanity that the Americans treated their prisoners with compared to the weary Brits fighting in Africa.
Hearing of the joy they felt as the Americans bombed their historic cities into ruins as we drove the Germans out , was endearing.
I think what this Liberal Generation fails to recognize is Freedom is not Cheap nor Obtained without considerable hard decisions and sacrifice.
Witness the many many men who lost their lives in WW2 and the final decision to drop the H-bombs on Japan.
I feel for many of our Veterans of all and continuing wars , but especially our WW2 vets.
It has to be disheartening to see our nation going down this liberal path that all are welcome to our American rights while trying to strip our beliefs as the country spirals in debt and illegal immigration .calnca, TruckrsWife and misterG Thank this. -
Yes. Because you have to be far right to defend this country. Look it up. All vets from all wars are Republicans. Not a single liberal among them. It's fact. Seriously. Really.
Edit: Dumbest thing I've ever read. Or at least up there.
