So I'm picking up a trailer in Illinois and the tandems are stuck all the way in the back. My shop says it doesn't matter just go. I'm telling them they are wrong, in Illinois and many states the tandems need to be in the 12th hole or less. Am I correct here? I think my company doesn't care about dot rules wtf

My state doesn't allow tandems on 53 ft trailers to ride at the rear of the trailer, even if you see such trailers on the roads. I would bet my right arm IL won't allow tandems slid to the rear. Even it the company pays the fine the PSP points are yours and will stick with you at least 3 years.
PSP points stick to your record even if your company doesn't care about their CSA score. -
That's what I told my company. They are mad at me because I told them I'm not going anywhere until this is fixedNorth Pole Nightmare Thanks this.

What is keeping them stuck there??

Not bridge law! Bridge law is how much weight you're allowed based on axles groups and distance between axle groups. KPRA assumes that you will be legal even though the real axle is close to drive axles.
When I used to drive for Pacer we scaled on site for California KPRA when the load was going there. If it wasn't, we did not scale for Illinois, and I never got harassed, no matter where the tandems were.Todd727 and bryan21384 Thank this.
