Last year, there were some states that did nothing during the blitz and nailed you the following week. Missourri comes to mind.

I agree at 550 for planning's sake, because you never know what you will run into. You might be able to do it with a 600 mile day, but planning at 550 leaves you with a safety cushion factored in, and besides, it make the trip a lot less stressful. Don't push it and just let the wheels roll and enjoy the ride.
Lady K Thanks this. -

i don't push it. i just let the wheels roll and enjoy the ride. 750 miles a day.
piece of cake.
550 miles is slacker miles. that's only 8 hours driving. maybe 9. -
then you are not understanding what we are saying.
No one said you can't run 750 miles a day.
What was said is to use 550, 600 or 650 miles and THAT is what you use for planning purposes. It allows you to build in some slack timefo issues IF they should happen.
Not like you have never had a truck break down or anything. -
I figure 625-650 and go from there.
I like others will run close to or over 700 but anything over my original plan I consider a bonus.MNdriver Thanks this. -
I did not know Texas ever stopped from last year ?

i still plan my day on 700 miles. if a break down happens. oh well. i'm not gonna worry about it cuz it's really out of my control. and can very easily set you back a full day or 2.
not a flat tire on the other hand. would screw up my day. but i'm still not going to worry about it.
you can't control the day. the day controls you. you just make do the best you can. and that's all you can do.
