I bought a pair of these a few years ago seem to be alright, Drings at the top of mine could tarp an empty trailer if I wanted to not that there is any reason to, might work for you.

I just gotta ask, if you can get up on a 4-1/2' trailer why can't you get on top of a 4' load?

the deck is 5 ft 6 inches off the ground.

who says you can't get on top of a 4 ft load???

but if the load leaves no room for climbing and takes up every square inch of your deck. how do you propose to climb that 9 ft 6 inch height off the ground.

fortuantely for me i pack a 10 ft ladder. but for everyone else.

and i've only seen on shipper that actually has a ladder for the drivers. i've seen 2 shippers that will lift you with the forklift.

    your screwed with everyone else.

I don't have a ladder yet, I wish I woulda bought one cuz it'd come in handy with the last three loads I had. I kicked myself when I delivered to a lowes and tried remembering to go in and buy a ladder but forgot.

Make sure you buy one tall enough. The ladder should extend above any load you might use it on. I got lucky a couple years ago and caught a 17 foot, folding extension ladder on sale for about $100 at Home Depot.

i got my 10 foot from walmart. around 40 i think it was.

i'd actually like to get a extend a ladder instead of the spread out legs i've got.

you can't be very heavy though. cuz i got the highest rating that was available at 240 lbs. which knda sucks.

hopefully i start LOSING weight instead of GAINING as i get older from here on out.

    LOL

I need one with a heavy rating. At least 300lbs. I don't weigh that much but I know I'm over 240

Highest rating I've seen for consumer/commercial is 1A, that handles 300 lbs. I need to lose to get on that one. :(

I picked up a folding ladder at lowes, was $115. It collapses to about 3' then unfolds into a step ladder or a 13' extension ladder with a 300lb rating. I'm 260ish and it held me no problem. And it fits right in the sidekit storage rack (I have no sidekit but the trailer is set up for one).

Well I tarped my 3rd load today. I'm way to embarrassed to show pics of the second load. It was lumber and was not stacked even so the middle was 4' higher than the rest. Had to throw both my 8' drop tarps on it. I parked in the back of the truckstop in shame. But while eating a 25 year veteran flatbedder gave me some good tips when I told him about the load. And he told me not to hit my head while crawling under the other trucks on my way back to mine hehe.

Then I picked up my load today, 5k lbs of board insulation. Agent says all it needs is a nose tarp so I say ok cool I need a break. I get to shipper and the bill is marked customer requires full tarps...wtf, they store that crap outside at the shipper! So I gotta go dig out my lumber tarps yet again. I think I did a better job on this one. Still got some wrinkles and I'm figuring how to fold them so I can unroll them centered on the load.

Incidentally this shipper has a huge moving set of stairs to get on top of the load and I had to wear a harness and hook up to a fall protection strap.
