well i just learned the 1st rule of fight club is there is no fight club..or should i say the first rule of running by the book is there is no by the book, even when paperless..thats just a nice word that even the "safety first" companies use just to cover their arses.. i feel so violated, my hopes & dreams of running 100% by the book and making $200k a year shattered...say it aint so..tell me their really is a santa clause and an easter bunny and a.... lol..welcome to the real world :biggrin_25523:

hehehehehehehe there was a Santa Claus, but he died centuries ago. No one has actually ever seen the "real" Easter Bunny.

If I were a betting man, I would say that your trainer is teaching you how to skirt around certain issues. Learn the company's system, get proficient at driving and manuevering the truck, make it through training, and then you have more levity about how to run your truck. And it can be done 100% legal. I do it day after day. And no, I don't work for Werner. But I am on electronic logs. Last two weeks I was out, I totaled 6600 miles with a 34 hour reset in the midst of it. And I am scheduled to run 3200 miles this week (maybe a little more..)

It'll come.... you gotta learn how to crawl first. Be patient and LEARN.... that is what the training phase is all about.

200k per year? not this week buddy.....

i just started with werner back in july and the only bad experience was the truck i was assigned. it was disgusting and i can't get that bad smell out of it but other than that it has been a good experience so far. i'm a pretty easy going guy so not to much bothers me but when i got assigned the dispatcher i have now i told him up front that i'll do my job as long as he does his. give me all the miles i can do in 1 week and get me home on the weekends and i'll get to every appointment on time. so far its been working out and i hope that if u do decide to work for werner that u have a good experience also.

why would u think u can make that kind of money driving a truck in this economy? the only way u gonna make that kind of money is if u had a couple of pounds of the good white stuff from columbia to your load. lol

Here's my advice for what it's worth on Werner or any other company you might consider after school...
Do your homework and research any company that you might be considering. Do NOT listen to everything you hear, see or read. Make your own decisions about where you are going to start your driving career. You will read a lot of bad things about the large training carriers. When you do, please remember that a carrier like Werner has over 8,000 trucks in their fleet. That's a lot of drivers. The % of drivers who quit for whatever reason do so in the first 30 days of employment. Then it's 60, 90, and 120 days. Many people leave not because of the company, they leave for other reasons. Such as the driver doesn't like being on the road, misses the family, the family misses that person, health issues and many many more reasons that don't have a thing to do with the company. Some posts that you'll read are from girl friends or boy friends or friends of a friend who think they want to add something about a company they don't really have a clue about. So, please do your own homeword and draw your own conclusions. Good luck in your decision and in your driving career.

I am leaving for Werner with three other guys from school on sunday the 27th! I am ready to take the good with the bad. I am just going to stay positive and learn everything I can! I know once I get some expierence there will be a lot more opportunities! My dad has drove for thirty-three years as well as my uncle. I am excited to get started.
