Spent the night in Ada MI at the Amway headquarters. I was dispatched to pick up for a 2100 appointment, but I houred out at 2000. I let dispatch know, and got a message an hour later telling me to go in early and they would load me. You guessed it--Amway runs a tight ship and wouldn't load me early. I ended up being there 15 hours because I couldn't go to sleep til they were done. I called in this morning to ask what happened and was told I had done nothing wrong and my available hours were properly entered, and it was the planner's fault for not checking my availability before tossing the load on me. I was informed the planner would be spoken to and they apologized for wasting my time. So that's a lot more respect than I've ever gotten from Celadon. Or any place else, for that matter.

I'm sure it helped that I didn't call them yelling and cussing but made it plain that I wanted only to fix whatever I was doing wrong to prevent that happening again (the previous load has gone much the same way). The Wisdom of the Ages says that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. When you negotiate in a spirit of cooperation, it tends to go much smoother than if you turn it into a confrontation. Just my two cents.

    I am Captain Zoom.
    I have spoken.

And you call yourself a truck driver? You should have called those #########s a bunch of ####### #######s and told them exactly what they could do with their ########, and the horse they rode in on, and it's mama!!

'Cause that's what us SuperTruckers do, ya know. :biggrin_25523:

Just discovered your thread here. Great reading. Now I have to go read your old thread.

Although I think a driver with your experience has better options out there I am hoping for nothing but success at Gordon for you

    Rocks Thanks this.

Thanks Fat Daddy; there are other options for me but I think it's generally relaxing to let the company do most of the work. Like I've said earlier on the thread, later I may get my own truck but for now I'm enjoying working for a large (ish) company. Also my wife lives in the truck with me so I don't want to get too hard core.

Penguin--LOL. Read your post to The Hot Chick and she got a good laugh too.

    I am Captain Zoom.
    I am frozen.

Pepto worked!! Now I'm going to screw it all up by ordering Kung Pao Chicken from the Golden Wok.

Sitting at the Indy yard waiting for morning. Quick shag to a grocery store delivers at 0800 then pickup in Plainfield IN going to Green Bay which will likely relay at the Green Bay yard since it doesn't deliver til Thursday night. Might take a 34 in Green Bay since my recap is looking pretty grim and I don't want to be stuck in Upper Butt Crack ND without hours. 'Cause Butt Crack stinks.
