I'm sure you meant to say Roadside Revenue Enhancement and not enforcement, right?

How to make a disgruntled driver:

    1) Have driver call in minor equipment damage, like a 1.5" crack on the air dam from running over a dirt clod in the road that could not be avoided.

    2) Immediately hit said driver with a $1,000 payroll deduction, before even seeing the damage much less getting an estimate.

    3) Uncork the champagne, you have moved a driver from "Happy" to "What the @#$! am I doing here."

For best results, do this after about three or four bad weeks in a row, and immediately after said driver goes into the hole for the first time. This ensures the driver goes from "That's trucking; it'll get better" to "What the @#$! am I doing here."

Gordon wants me back...said they could give me System (long haul/national) in writing...now I'm seriously thinking about it.

20150527_093628.jpg The $1,000 crack. To be fair, I am told after repairs are done the difference in cost will be refunded to me. But we have a couple of wrecked trucks in the boneyard with good bumpers. This piece is held on with four screws. It isn't complicated. Now, if I try to leave, that thousand will be deducted from any monies owed me. Basic accounting, I know. Just a pain in my rear that I'm not too happy about. Also got a call from Safety saying that the "System" doesn't allow sleeper split breaks (I had used one to get a load in on time). He kept telling me I had not even taken a full 8hrs (I was staring at my QComm; I was right to the minute). He said my my unit displays different from the "System." WHAT!!?? First, nobody told me sleeper splits are verboten--I don't make a habit of it but had used it before with this company. Second, shouldn't the company and driver be in sync?? Something has changed, and I don't like it.

Put it back in place. Epoxy on the backside. Bondo, sand, and paint. "Damage? What damage?"

Made that same mistake when I first started driving. Scraped some paint off the hood and bumper on my truck. Should have said nothing. Company body shop guy said no big deal. It wound up on my dac.

When i worked for JBS, I hit a deer in a small town in Missouri, cracked the bumper dead middle, lucky no other damage, waited till i was back at yard and showed the mechanic. He said no big deal, fixed it while was on home time. bought that gut a 12 of his favorite liquid beverage.

Seems like most carriers forbid use of the 8/2 split break. My own carrier forbids it unless it is necessary to move the truck to a safe parking area. For example, a shipper holds my truck up for 8 hours and burns up my clock. I log the 8 hours in sleeper, get some hours back, and move the truck to a truck stop/rest area. I then have to take a full ten hour break instead of the allowed by law 2 hour break to stay within company policy. Not a big deal to me, since by that time I'm usually tired enough to want a full ten. But there are some drivers within the fleet who get annoyed at losing that amount of time due to company policy. I get annoyed at losing that amount of time due to shipper/receiver incompetence, myself.
