Oy gevalt. What a week this has been. Hotel room 6 out of 8 days. Three shop visits. Truck recovery, horribly mishandled by the company (leave your wife behind). Battle of wills with planners, trying to get home.

It's that last one that is getting to me. My resolve to remain optimistic was softened when I was directed to leave my wife behind in Dallas to recover a truck in Beaumont, then jerked around in Houston for two days. I still defended sticking around when some of you wondered what I'm still doing here. But the company fighting me on getting home is something I'm not willing to tolerate. I have an offer on the table to return to a prior employer already. It's another mega carrier but my only beef with them was the pay, which they have addressed after losing hundreds of experienced drivers in the last quarter of 2014.

I'm still not quite ready to give up on Gordon yet, but I am willing to acknowledge that those of you urging me to get out have a valid point.

You don't mess with a driver's pay, family, or home time--and Gordon is hitting 2 for 3 right now. The terminal manager has gotten involved and I'm currently dispatched on a load going to Olney IL (Walmart) that will put me close to Indy. We'll see what they do next; that will determine what I do next.

I'm more than patient, but I've had quite enough.

Remember the insurance, that is becoming a real problem. One thing Gordon still has going for it.Other than the recovery, the rest happens occasionally.

Doing favors tends to be a 1 way street, unfortunately.

Yep, insurance is the only thing keeping me around. Celadon also has good insurance.

After 9 days of continuous (daily) screwups and now Dispatch is starting to get an attitude with me (EXCUSE ME!? I AM THE AGGRIEVED PARTY HERE, NOT YOU!!!) I'm running out of reasons to hang around.

You'll find that to be true in just about any business.

Just out of curiosity are you strictly dry van or would consider reefer freight? Reason I'm asking is there are a couple of mid-west reefer outfits that seem to do right by their drivers.

Reefer is a pain in the ###, but I'd consider it for a company that treats their Drivers right.

Actually Gordon refrigerated does their drivers right. I'm just wondering if I'm going to survive this phase of the merger with Heartland.

Company mergers and splits are a major PITA I was involved in 1 about 6 years ago. I wound up on the short end of the stick. Duplicate jobs etc. "Who needs to go? how about the old guy?" That's what it felt like.

Doing my best to remember that most of my current issues are a perfect storm of merger changes being implemented combined with holiday weekend. Jury still out on whether I will stick it out while they work out the bugs. They switched my load out for one going toward Indy a day earlier. Somebody is trying.

Load was five hours late getting to me. Then it was 500 lb over gross. Gordon had me leave the chains at the yard which put me 200 over gross and hoping to squeak by on the APU exemption (400 over gross allowed for my TriPac). I'm still 500 over on my drives but not going to fuel on this run.

Load is going to be late because of all this. I'm not taking any heat.
