I left the oil patch last spring after a four year run. Was nice, made good money, now it's over. So yesterday a guy I respect ribbed me a little for having three jobs since then and it made me think. I think maybe we audition companys. It's so hard to tell the BS because every company is different as every driver is different. For a minute I felt bad cuz ol boy had a point, I WAS flippin around, lookin like a flake. But now I've found the right company. I have no qualms about leavin the other two jobs. They knew what I wanted when I signed on and it didn't happen.
My point, zooms, is don't sweat leavin. You gotta do for you and yours. You're doin your homework. I have no doubt you'll find the right outfit.
I'm baaaaaack!!!!!!!!

Live unload at 0900, the zip over to Walmart for meds and other stuff, then whatever.
Who wants odds on the load being 300 miles and delivers tomorrow?
Put in for home time New Years Eve. Back at Celadon the 1st. Shouldn't have left.scottlav46 Thanks this. -
Captain zoom I would check out big G. They have a lot of freight that goes up into your area or through your area and plenty of miles that are consistent. I work there two years before leaving to once again become an owner operator. If this doesn't work out I'm back quicker than you can say back. The people are very personal there it is not a big corporate environment and they know how to treat their drivers. Their benefits are excellent

Time to try somewhere new. No more recycling companies. You left them for a reason which you will be reminded of at some point.scottlav46 and Captain Zoom Thank this. -

I knew this wouldn't be popular. I did speak with Big G and they are no doubt a great company, but for some personal reasons I have not discussed here Celadon is a better fit for me and more importantly for The Hot Chick.
I do appreciate that you can disagree with me without getting angry and insulting; that tells me you have an enormous amount of class and you care about a person's welfare and not just about getting someone to do what you tell them, so much respect to you all.
Stay tuned if you wish as I will continue this journal.
And, as I suspect some of you will do, have your "I told you so" guns locked and loaded.
As I said Celadon is better for my family's big picture. But Big G will still be there if it goes South.scottlav46, mitrucker and Pintlehook Thank this. -
As we "mature" our needs and goals become more focused. Things we hardly thought about 20 years ago become more important. Things we thought we needed sort of fade into the background. The need for a steady reliable income with fewer peaks and valleys helps to reassure us and our dependents. Healthcare options that are affordable and readily available are one of the most overlooked "bennies" that drivers consider when looking at a company.
I'll never criticize someone who takes a mature look at what he and his loved ones need when moving to any company. You've always taken the highroad when dealing with the companies you've driven for so I salute you for that. Hope everything works to your benefit in your next adventure.scottlav46 and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
