Got weighed last week out in front of the Petro in Amarillo on some portables. 12280 on my steers and the DOT man didn't say a word. I think it depends on both the officer and the driver. If you have a bad attitude and the officer feels he can push you around he will probably break your balls. The guy in Amarillo told me the "law" is your DOT numbers have to be 2.5" tall and that he was writing me up I politely informed him that the law is clearly visible from 50ft during daylight hours. They will get you for what they can.
I'm baaaaaack!!!!!!!!

As the Scale Master was tending to that Driver, a different person asked me for my Permit Book and explained why I had been invited in to the Scale House. He also told me that I needed to remove close to 1,000 pounds of ice and snow from the tandems as well as move the tandems two or three holes to the rear. No problem.
The next day, I was headed back East, but Driver A was still out of service.
So, yes: Scale Masters definitely know how to make a driver talk with a high pitched voice.Dominick253 and Long FLD Thank this. -
Every time I get inspected I kill them with kindness. It seems too make my life easier.

The whole 12k thing is a perfect example of idiotic company policies pushing the employee to exit the realm of common sense and enter la la land. I get why some people follow these policies to the letter, because they need the job and don't want to risk getting fired. It's a sad state of affairs and it's one of the reasons I hate large companies with every fiber of my being. Policies for the sake of policies dictated by the lowest common denominator.
I've enjoyed Zoom's thread, but I think he's following the cliched definition of insanity to the letter. Nothing against him as a person, but he's beating his head up against a wall and wondering why it hurts.Dominick253, Pintlehook, RMU91 and 3 others Thank this. -

when i screw up i call the office and tell them before some brown noser get a chance'
a lot of the industry is thin skinned truckers and company policies and pc speech designed to avoid frivolous litigation..
i said adios after a 2 page reaming on here after i pointed out the connection between diet and a failed medical exam.
im an expert on nothing but i have not worked for a mega since the training wheels came off 18 years ago.

I usually don't post anything most of the time. Captain hasn't been on here for about 3 maybe 4 days, yet we are still discussing weight. If Celadon says to their drivers 12,000 on steers then so be it. Dot don't sign his paychecks Celadon does. Can we move on and discuss other things pretty much beating a dead horse.
Dominick253, TB John and 8thnote Thank this. -
One thing I've noticed about truckers myself included is we have this compulsion to try and prove we are the smartest person in the room (or in this case the thread)
Carry on
