It might be. Luckily I'm trading Thursday s pile of junk in next week for a Cummins. Another thing with the paccar is that with the engine brake on I can't float it to save my life. When it's off it floats great. With it on it drops the rpm's like a hot rock

He's back!!! Lol. Knew he you'd come back. This is the Internet after all. Makes people feel superior when they can point out a mistake.
In one of the paccar trucks I used the Jake wouldn't work if you had the cruise on. If the cruise was not completely shut off then the Jake wouldn't work. -
The engine brake on mine works great, but it needs to be between 1500-1700rpm. The old Maxxforce was like Dominick said, 1800-2000rpm and sounded like the thing was about to fly apart but worked well in its range.Dominick253 Thanks this.

You have to get the rpm up, I run Monteagle twice a week with 44000#, Paccar MX13,I go down in 7th or 8th,full Jake's 2000 rpm and barely ever touch my brakesRugerfan Thanks this.

Mine is that way,you have to tap the brakes, also if cruise is on 5 mph over setting the Jake kicks on automatically
-
That wasn't Dominick. That was my little tidbit Captain. I know, who gives a crap?
-
Oops. Mea culpa. Here's a Guinness, on me.
(Standing corrected) -
The new engines need to be run at 2000-2200 rpm to get a real engine brake. As long as you don't hit the red rpm's you're fine. I go downhill with my Volvo engine between 2000-2200 and the engine brake works great! Check your max rpm and go up to there. With only 1700 or 1800 it doesn't work perfect!

That's it in a nutshell. Well said.
