Well, that's unfortunate. From what I've read here, they've lost a hell of a guy. I hope your next stop goes better.

Well, that's not a good thing. It is good information for me, as I am in a decision making process...

Well, I am neither endorsing nor condemning, only reporting. I report, you decide. Or, I lay it out for you to play it out.

Keep up the blog. Gordon's loss, too bad. There was a time when Gordon, in particular, had many who lived out of their trucks, stayed on the road. Heartland's a tad more uptight. Gordon could care less whether you had blue hair, a third eye, as long as you delivered on time and drove safe.

Still a great outfit for a driver with less experience than you, Zoomy.

Eager to see what you do, with or without Smurfs...

I watched dock workers spend 13 hours checking in about 22 pallets at a grocery warehouse in Rochester, NY. The dock worker at my door would pull out 2 pallets and spend 30 minutes checking in those 2 pallets. I was required to stand on the dock in case a layer had to be removed. I only handled a few cases. I had driven overnight to get there on time. At one point, i went to my truck to lie down. The yard driver showed up within a few minutes and said unloading would stop until I was on the dock.
I think they were having a work slowdown during a new contract negotiation. Probably trying to pressure their employer.
So, after being up for 24 hours and on my feet for hours (they did let me dine in their cafeteria ), my reload needed to be picked up an hour away before the place closed. And it was Friday afternoon, and they weren't gonna be open on the weekend.
Obviously, I am no fan of unions.
Since then , I've bought one new Camry and two new Peterbilts. I think those plants are non-union. Makes me happy.

Dominick253 and double yellow Thank this.

Then there was the time I hauled a load of auto parts 860 miles overnight because i was told it needed to be there. They told me to drop the trailer in the lot. I parked it next to 3 other loaded trailers that belonged to my employer. No empty. I asked if they could unload one. They said they unload them when they need the parts. Well, 3 days later i guess they needed some parts. The unions squawk about protecting their jobs, but they don't seem to want to reciprocate.
I have walked through auto plants and looked at "workers" sleeping on shelves. Tough job.
