There are Macks in the fleet but primarily Volvo and Freightliner condos with automatics. They'll ask at orientation which you prefer; I'm split between Volvo and Freightliner.

UGA732 Thanks this.
-
Yeah, 780 with the work station and the iShift. Also an inverter and APU. I like the room and the work station in the Volvo but I like how the Freightliner drives with its 55° wheel cut (makes it easier in tight spaces--the Volvo is a little bit more work).
-
The Volvo is twice the truck! Volvo vs Chevy.
-
Actually Volvo vs Dodge (Ram, now) would be more apropos as Chrysler owned a chunk of Freightliner not too long ago (they don't, anymore)
Bumper Thanks this. -
It's whatever you like, apples and oranges, and dealer networks, and also individual dealers, and with either, you are at the mercy of someone who didn't sell you the truck, even an owner op. Raising heck might work, but probably will get you ignored and otherwise treated with disdain.
I like the Cascadia, but I'm running regional, essentially long distance shag runs. The shorter midroof is even more maneuverable and I also see far more FL/Detroit shops than Volvo, and dealer support is important.
Also, an unscientific noting of the makes of broken down trucks along the road waiting for help, makes me happier with FL. But if dealer support is adequate, either is OK.Panhandle flash and Turn4 Thank this. -
I don't think I have ever seen a Cascadia burn down either. Volvos, yes.
-
I have. These things are surprisingly flammable, regardless of make.
I take the basic precautions necessary in any truck to prevent immolation. -
I woke up a few yards from one going up, and I don't remember the make, tires went boom, and in a few minutes the fire department showed up. The place was a Crazy Ds, now a Pilot at Crawfordsville off I74 in western IN.
I have heard it's mostly inverters and wiring, but any time you have that amount of battery power in close proximity to metal and fuel, any electrical malfunction can result in fire.
It's just sheer numbers, there are so many more Cascadias than anything else, there will be more things happening just from that.
Newish truck, with support, outside of the lemons no one wants to be stuck with, should be an okay ride.
Friend is driving a 780 specced wrong and he needs the dealer support often, and the reasons would boggle the mind, not even talking the steering problem that make had recently, his company runs all Volvo mostly close enough to get by a local shop often, so it's tolerable for him. He likes the truck, but I wouldn't.
