Hmmm...Risinger has two flags pretty consistently: Unsafe Driving, going up from 69% to 82% in the past reporting year, and HOS Compliance, going up from 73% to 82%. Plus in Q4/2014, 23 crashes with 296 power units. Seems high ratio to me. Be careful.

So you have a better chance of being run into while driving around the terminal yard instead of on the highway and when your hit the other driver will be in violation of HOS....

Have taken meds and eaten (I'm a diabetic). Homicidal urges fading. Homosexual urges.... Ummm, still singing show tunes while driving and I used the word "fabulous" yesterday. But I got rid of the Speedo (fed it to the goat -- it died).

Sitting at the Chicago 55 truck stop. Early morning departure to Rockford to get a Lowe's load and drag it to the St. Louis area by 1500. Then schlep the empty to Pontoon Beach and put the tractor in the shop. Mon morning I'll be calling Risinger to make final travel arrangements from that area instead of Indy (hope they'll still rent us a car). Then call Gordon and say goodbye.

Hoping they aren't too upset but it had been my experience that it doesn't pay to give a company any real notice as they'll leave you at the nearest terminal.

Updates as events warrant. Sad note:gonna have to leave my beloved crock pot behind. No room and my truck doesn't have an inverter. Or an apu. Sigh. The Hot Chick isn't happy about that. Gonna get a lunchbox oven but it isn't the same. Cleanup is easier though.

    Good night!

Reckon you called it, T_Trucker. Can't say I'm not a little surprised myself. If Gordon had let me be a national driver instead of conscripting me to their Midwest regional fleet I would never have considered leaving. I've barely cleared 2,000 miles on my best week here.

Lease Truck (n.) A slightly glorified company truck. So no, it ain't mine til it's paid for. That means no hard wired inverter, no holes drilled, very limited personalization, and no pets till it's paid for. (Actually I'm not too sure about the pet thing so will have to ask at orientation)

Plug in type only for inverters. That's fine; I only need 300 watts to charge the laptop or run a tv if I can't find a DC model.

Best with CSA scores is to consider what to infer policy-wise on the part of the carrier. Unsafe Driving (IMO) implies not enough time available on runs or late penalties. Some shippers on the refrigerated side have substantial penalties to the truck if appointment missed. If loads wait until de facto late before finally dispatched to an available truck, you get driver desperation, speeding, following too close, risky driving. Ditto with HOS. Especially if carrier insists drivers take bad loads. Implies bad, cowboy driver culture.

On the good side, both HOS and safety are completely controllable by the driver and Gordon would not have hired Captain Zoom had he not a darn good record. Zoomy's in charge of both his HOS and safe driving.

    Needs to protect both.

Does Risinger Dispatch bully Risinger drivers? Dunno. Some do. I've seen outfits with this type CSA (high Unsafe, high HOS) state on web site that going in you know it's force dispatch so punishment is prompt for turned down loads. In contrast, HOS at Gordon is a rock-solid defense when presented with a PrePlan that won't fly. A Gordon DM might annoy you, that's about it.

Zoomy got through Celadon and the ONLY thing I have personal experience of Celadon is overhearing Dispatch brow-beating a driver mercilessly, so loud I could hear it from nearby. Felt embarrassed for the driver to overhear this.

What for you ask? For not writing down the magic number off the QC to get into a Wal-Mart DC; had called Dispatch for the magic number and got chewed out royally. Would never happen at Gordon. Just wouldn't.

The saga of Captain Zoom continues...

It's a big one, 375 watts. I can get a smaller one for cheap at Wal-Mart. Not safe to max out your wattage and I won't mess around with the larger, direct to battery ones. If they'll let me I'll get a bigger one installed professionally. Complete with in line fuse. Otherwise it'll be a little plug in type deal.
