I was too chicken to try any of that stuff.

Besides, it might have made me weird.

My sword is longer than yours!

Seriously. Scottish Claymore. Six feet of pure blade, plus about three feet from cross guard to pommel. High quality, combat edged (square edge on most of blade, sharp from tip to about 18 inches back). And yes, I do know how to use it. Just waiting for an invasion of medieval Sassenachs or Norman Knights.......

I once knew a guy who got busted for trying to sell a dummy claymore mine on eBay. It was ugly. MP's at his door. Not a good career move for a soldier.

I have a jian. And an ox tail knife, known here as a willow leaf broadsword. Nowhere near the range or destructive power of your Claymore, but either is extremely effective at medium to close range.

I use the knife technique with my cane, with modifications to take advantage of the hook handle.

I've seen some of the techniques for the Claymore. It really takes a very athletic person to use one of those beasts. Absolutely devastating in a melee situation against multiple opponents.

    Perfect for crazy Scots.

Great for large battlefields and high "target rich" environmonets (i.e. totally surrounded by people you wish to end). Bloody useless for anything else! Which is why I keep a variety of deadly edged things around. And deadly stringed thingies that launch even deadlier narrow thingies with sharp points on the end. Plus a couple thingies that shout "BANG" really loud and spit high velocity bits og lead thingies.

I ain't prepping for the end of the world. But if conflict appears in my back yard, I ain't getting caught completely flat-footed, either.

With the recent incidents I have my Beretta 92F in the truck with me now. Swords are too close a weapon for me. Plus I have never been too good wit one.
