Looking for a new job, eh?

Zoomster, if it weren't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all!

Who you got in mind for your next step? Leasing probably ain't gonna work right now. Freight is in the bowl and circling fast. I know you prefer vans, maybe a smaller reefer outfit? Or something local or dedicated? Reefer will probably keep you out too long, and I doubt that would work until you got the homelife situation sorted out.

Maybe try the LTL side? Hook up a slick linehaul, out and back and home everyday? God knows you have the experience to qualify, if you van handle the night time driving that is.

Regardless, I'm pullin' for ya! Keep us updated, please. The humor with which you attack the normal stuff helps me out a lot when I'm ready to throttle random idiots. Who knows how many lives you've saved!

I've got an offer from an old friend at another company. I took her up on it before I quit here. Still OTR dry van, mostly east of 35, no NYC and very little New England.

They do not train and do not hire inexperienced drivers. And their equipment is better.

I'll have to get my tanker endorsement and want to get my hazmat back (pays 2 cents more on all miles).

As to the freight issue; well, we're all gonna have tough times if the Mafia end up on Capitol Hill.

Same here. This company used to be that way. Now it's like they got bought out by Celadon and didn't tell anyone.

The micro management, the lectures on how to do my job when they aren't doing their own (what's with the 62mph dispatches all last weekend guys?), the equipment problems, the expectation for me to cover the company's collective ### while risking my own, the talk about changing my elogs to make me legal, the open threat I received last week (run your clock all the way out every day or you'll have trouble getting miles), the getting jacked around by the shop, the lack of communication between operations and safety, their refusal to use the Qualcomm to communicate-- I'm a professional and expect my company to be at least as good at this as I am.

They're bleeding drivers, experienced ones. It's happened in the last couple of weeks. But that's fine; they've got a fresh crop of students coming out of their school (unaffiliated with them but owned by the same guy, wink wink) every week who'll do the job cheaper.

This is why I'll never work for a big company, they treat people like idiots.

Captain Zoom, Pintlehook and RERM Thank this.

This is the Church Preaching to the Choir: Regardless of what your daughter is going through, Captain, don't give up. Don't ever give up. Keep hounding her until she hates you, because that hate will turn into love. Don't give up on her...

Captain Zoom and Henley Thank this.

I agree, but I don't think Big M is a large company, is it?? Seems like even the smaller ones are getting in the game of screwing drivers.
