Hanging out in the hotel room. They asked me to come visit with them before checking in to the room. I met Tonya, recruiter extraordinaire. She sounds a lot taller on the phone. We all ducked into Tom Dalton's office (one of the big mucky mucks here. The Hot Chick says he reminds her of Sean Connery, minus the accent. Really great guy. We chatted for about five minutes about the state of trucking, finding quality drivers, keeping same, the equipment, no pet policy (AAAARRRGH!!), Risinger's running area, and I'm retarded because I thought Risinger was refrigerated. Tom looked like he got an itch at the very idea. Guess that came from all the research. All the companies I looked at ran together in my brain. There isn't much room in there.
Tom is a great guy and drove for Risinger for 13 years and over a million miles. He knows the routes, the customers, and the business. It's good to know there's at least one person in upper level management who knows what it is to be a driver.
My truck is in the shop getting new cab fairings or some such; should be ready before Friday. Would have been ready now but they weren't expecting me till next week.
The Hot Chick is feeling much better about all this after that meeting (she sat in and will be coming to orientation). I'm about as relaxed as I've been in a month.
Tomorrow we return the rental, get a cab ride back to the room, and I'll fill in some details here.
G'nite!
I'm baaaaaack!!!!!!!!

Holy shiite, I know that feeling. I really hope this is the right one for you guys.
But umm... assuming you did your homework, how did you think Risinger was refrigerated?

Man, I don't know. I spoke with about a dozen drivers and checked out their equipment, looked at their csa scores, etc. No excuse. Like I said I checked out about a dozen companies, wires got crossed in my head somewhere.

Well yes it's the drama that makes these threads on here interesting and readable. Nobody wants to read just " I delivered my load to _______ parked, hit the buffet line, showered, played X-box and went to sleep" repeated ad-infinitum. I like to read about the problems, the victories and defeats, the good bad and ugly. And if there are small farm animals involved that's just a bigger plus!

Breakfast at the hotel includes scrambled eggs and sausage. And fresh made waffles. Gotta return the rental and catch a cab back to the hotel. That's about it for today. Watch tv, play around on Facebook, grab a shower, watch a dvd, maybe a stroll. A little de-stressing...feels nice. We'll hit it hard again soon enough.

This is dead-on perfect. That and the fact the megas should focus on their strengths. I hope your next opportunity is THE one, man. Keep your chin up...most of us have made at least one of those "oops" moves in our lives....some of us more than others.
I mean.....I have friends, yeah....friends....that have made numerous mistakes.....
Dominick253 and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
