Being a HUGE Assassin's Creed fan (games), I find myself extremely hesitant on the movie. The ads look really good, but......

I'm also a huge "Avatar: The Last Airbender" fan (the series close was absolutely KILLER!) but look at what hollyweird did with that. Great series, absolutely horrible movie. And Avatar doesn't have anywhere near as extensive or complixated a backstory as Assassin's Creed (which goes all the way back to the Old Man in the Mountain during the Crusades period, plus a massive modern day story that intertwines throughout).

If hollyweird screws up Assassin's Creed (again! there was a straight to video flop a few years back from what I hear) after all the hype, it's going to be very hard to try and bring any other major video game franchises to the big screen. Especially since video game franchises don't generally do very well at the box office (Super Mario Bros the Movie, Street Fighter, Mortal Combat, Final Fantasy, just to name a few).

I'm gonna see it and forget about the game, and just take it at face value as a movie.

I understand their stunt team set a record for highest free jump (fall onto airbag) and that most of the action was done in camera (although the scenery is mostly CGI).

Happy new year (blows horn, tosses handful of confetti).

    I'm going to bed.

Free jumps are a major part of the game. As far as the scenery being CGI, I'm fine with that AS LONG AS the used the same teams that did the scenery for the games. A whole passel of historical research went into the scenery backgrounds of the various games to make them as historically accurate as possible. As an example: Rennasaince(?) Period Rome looked absolutely NOTHING like Imperial Rome or latter period Italian capital city Rome. Same goes for Istanbul (or is it Constantinople these days?)

Sadly so much has been lost over the centuries. We only have imperfect records to go by in trying to recreate what was.

Holiday traffic beat me yesterday and spooched my plans so shut down 90 miles short. Probably gonna move 58 miles to a closer truck stop and slide in there tomorrow morning. Can't get a 34 but with a quiet day I should be able o do it off my recap without too much trouble.

Started to watch Assassin's Creed but got sick about 25 minutes in and had to leave. Might try again today. What I saw was enjoyable.

Watched the whole movie today. Enjoyment was marred by two things:

    1) Some schmuck next to me couldn't stay off his cell phone. Very distracting. I said something to the staff and they said something to him. Didn't help. And after the movie he hung around the lobby glaring at me like he wanted to fight. Didn't happen.

    2) The movie, aside from some pretty impressive visuals and descent fight choreography, was kind of meh. Except the ending. That truly sucked.

I recommend waiting for the DVD, or better yet, the FX channel premiere.
