Has nobody here ever spent several days chugging around on low speed secondary roads in the snow, or is there some new law on the books that requires drivers to spend all their logged driving hours at 65mph? 2400 miles with 5:13 left on your 70 does happen, albeit not very often. I'm sure I'm not the only one. And that wasn't even the gripe.

Anyway I could get a call early morning because of my early PTA but I doubt it since the planners usually get that stuff taken care of before they go home with their banker's hours. I don't mind so much getting woke up to be informed about an odd hours load. My beef with the dispatcher in question was the habit of waking me in the middle of the night to question how I do my job and, this last time, to debate with me whether my 68mph truck can average 68mph over 320 miles (the last 80 miles of which was off Interstate routes with 55mph speed limits).

I don't like to mute my phone at night, although, after last night, I can see the appeal of The Krauts approach.

    Ooops and mitrucker Thank this.

Fortunately I never had this happen to me (the low miles), yes I had delays due to weather conditions, but not so bad.
We have no night dispatch, I never got a call in the night and I only would call in an emergency (we have an after hours number, you get somebody if it's urgent).
Nobody sends messages on the qualcomm in the night, we get only a few messages per week on daylight hours.
I worked for a bigger company in Canada, H&R Lethbridge, they had a night dispatch and they sent messages in the middle of the night. First thing when I went to sleep, phone on mute and qualcomm on mute
For me sleep is one of the most important things on the road so nobody has to bother me.
Two weeks ago, I parked around the corner at a customer, my appointment was 06:00.
At 04:30 a guy knocked on my door and wanted to see the paperwork. Looked at it and told me, I had to scale first. Scale was right behind me, but opens at 08:00 in the morning.
This guy can be lucky that he is still alive
