Close...so close. I startled the #### out of him when I barked at him to stop. He was hyperfocused on watching for traffic from the left and forgot to use the brake enough to hold still.

I think he was irate for a second there (who wouldn't be), but when he saw what almost happened he fell into line quick. We were inches from that black Honda.

My trainer had me practice letting the clutch up while still holding the brake, that way I could feel the truck rock to the side indicating it was time to let off the brake.

Hope that rambling sentence makes sense.

I'm working on getting him to stop hyperfocusing on any one task. This job is all about skillful multitasking.

Anyhow all our trucks are automatics. You can't depend on the hill start assist too much. Uphill starts are a skill whether you're in a manual or automatic.

He did real good today except for that major hiccup. Six hours and only one lane control incident. Compared to his first day, which was one and a half hours of one continuous lane control incident.

That’s one reason I like that brake application pressure gauge. I check it every time I’m in that situation. I’ve caught myself rolling once in a great while.

Hey, a little tough love never hurt anyone.

The Guage is a good idea. I will make it my idea.

    It is now my idea.

Now you owe me a quarter for every time you use it. Retroactively.

    Alternatively, I'll accept a Corvette.

    In yellow. Manual transmission.

How about a house or in your case a truck broke goat instead?

As opposed to a goat that has accidents all over your sleeper. AKA Housebroken.
