Blew the morning fixing a tire.
Started clock, drove to pickup.
Blowing the afternoon at a #$@&!!! grocery warehouse as a work in due to the tire delay getting here.
Day = blown. -
That’s the right way to train a student. If everything goes all Sunshine and peaches during his training, they’ll never learn how to handle the adversities that are a part of trucking. I always felt it was more than just learning how to drive and back up. It’s also about learning to think, solve problems and plan ahead. I always told my students when we pulled into a truck stop that by the time they’ve pulled into the lot, I’ve already found a spot, backed in and inside eating dinner because I’ve looked ahead and made a plan for where I want to park and the easiest way to get there.
Work smart, not hard.Captain Zoom and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
I'd have blamed the tire on the trainee and had them pump it up with a bicycle pump while walking the new goat who will terrify the people at the grocery warehouse into getting you in and out possibly banning you for life and hence forth never having to deal with that situation again. I like this plan and you may use it retroactively for hmm ¢5

U think Nightwind just won this conversation?

78 miles from final. Rookie handled this load alone except for a brief drive from me last night (100 miles when he was fatigued).

So the trainee was too pooped to pop after a 100 miles or with only a 100 miles to walk the goat left? Did you forget the remote shock collar and hot shot so you could fire him up at long range?

Rookie covered just over 300 miles (he isn't allowed to drive more than 6 hours yet).
He's actually doing a lot better than I was in my second week of driving a truck ever. We aren't all born super truckers.Panhandle flash Thanks this. -
As to his fatigue yesterday he had been up over 16 hours when he finally started driving. Not all time is driving time and legal doesn't necessarily mean safe.
Panhandle flash and Feedman Thank this. -
You know you're really not letting me have any fun with this story
