ok, if I was to come back over the road, who would be a good overall company to hold a steering wheel for? general recommendations, need a change of pace.
-
PAM Transport. They hire lots of steering wheel holders at PAM.

Need more info to make a good recommendation. What kind of job are you wanting? What is your personality type? What type of lifestyle are you accustomed to? Your family/home life is a big part of it. Example: A guy I trained was a natural for long haul team driving; we actually teamed for a while. Problem was, he has three small kids and hasn't been married very long. Also, he is very much a Type A personality. So the long tedious hours on the highway combined with the long waits associated with running reefer were working together with the weeks on end away from home to slowly drive the man crazy. He now drives a day cab for a FedEx contractor and loves every minute of it.
I see you have five years experience but that's about all I can tell at first glance. Give us a little more to work with and I'm sure I put one of my friends on the forum can steer you in the right general direction. Like I've said before -- there's a butt for every seat and a seat for every butt.
Gotta tuck the goat in for the night. The Hot Chick spoils that goat. G' nIte.mnmover Thanks this. -
BTW "steering wheel holder" is a perjorative term. Don't sell yourself short by calling yourself that. You don't want to be called a trucker, I understand. Be a man who earns his living by driving a truck.
Victor_V Thanks this. -
I'm ambivalent about that. For sure, some here mean it perjoratively when referring to 'steering wheel holders.' On the other hand, I'm proud to hold a steering wheel and get paid well for it.
But your point is well taken...
Hey!! Quick snooze, Zoomy.Captain Zoom Thanks this. -
The goat has gas...yeah...the goat farted. Man, goat farts stink.
KiLLaZiLLa93 Thanks this. -
Unloading at International Paper in Hammond IN. Snuck in here off duty and will slink back to the truck stop after. Gonna slide in a 34 under the radar and hit it hard Tuesday.

Doing a 34 at the Petro in Gary IN. Got the Hot Chick a mobile wifi hot spot from T-Mobile to go with her new Asus T100. She is now lost to me. But I can reactivate my old Netflix account and it doesn't hurt so bad.... $50 for 7gB of data at 4G speeds is pretty reasonable to me. If we don't use near as much as that this month I can get less bandwidth for cheaper next month. No contract, no surprises. And the device is 1/2 the cost of the Straight Talk one. If I were still running coast to coast I would have gotten the Straight Talk one since it runs off Verizon towers but the T-Mobile one has more than adequate coverage for where I run.
Preplan picks up in University Park tomorrow morning and delivers in North Chicago any time tomorrow. That will put me in a position for another load out of Pleasant Prairie, and those are milers. Last week I turned in 2800 miles with minimal fuel, considering how Old Man Winter sodomized me. I'm expecting a decent check this week. Next week will be smaller. The week after that will probably hurt a little due to home time but I still expect to make something.
So far I'm loving it here. Just need to get accustomed to running hard again; 2 years at Celadon and a month at Gordon made me soft. -
And remember that the cell providers are rolling over unused data to keep you from bailing (my provider, AT&T, does it for a month) so you can end up with more.
