Geeze, and I thought I had it bad when I was down for 4 days. Fuel pump destroyed itself. Amazing just how many things have to be replaced or cleaned, when that happens.
-
Yeah I'm glad it isn't the fuel pump. I just wish the tech who replaced the heater core had done the job right. I'm hoping that he just didn't burp the system and that there isn't a leak or today's gonna be a loooonnnng day.
The Hot Chick and I agreed last night that I'm not going to do the repair-debt-loan train with these guys; did that for a year at Dart and that's enough for one lifetime.
This thing tries to become a nightmare, they're getting me a new truck. Or Gordon wants me back. I have zero patience for shoddy maintenance; I got a job to do.Victor_V Thanks this. -
Sounds like tech didnt get all of the air out if the system. Dont understand why it is so hard to find a good truck mechanic. If car dealership techs were this lousy they would be out of a job. Yet these truck guys stay employed.
-
You would be amazed at some of the car dealer mechanic stories I could tell you from my stint as a sales training manager (who sometimes got tapped for customer relations duty). Stories range from tire rotation minus the lug nut reinstall to an oil change released without an oil filter to a tech going cruising in a customer's BMW (customer had left keys in night deposit box).
I topped off the coolant but still have no heat. Getting a meal and a shower then finishing run and going to shop. My truck gets fixed or replaced or Gordon wants me back. 1800-2000 miles a week is still better than 3 shop visits in a week for the same issue. What burns me is those techs will still get paid this weekend while I'm paying a real price for their ineptitude/carelessness. -
The last dealer I worked at, the owner was so cheap that he hired a guy who just liked to work on cars as a hobby. This guy left wheels loose so many times that he had to check lugnuts with a torque wrench after he put them back on. He left mounting bolts out of a brake caliper on a minivan. Too many others to mention.
Hope things get better for you soon. Imo Gordon is not the answer for you. Just my .02 as I know how you feel abt that.Captain Zoom Thanks this. -
Are there some shutoff valves on your heater hoses ? The mechanic may have forgotten to open them.
-
If you find 2 valves and they are CLOSED , check and see if the new heater core was installed before you open them , actually had that happen years back
-
Did the mechanic survive?
-
Yes it was a screw up with the shop having to different crews 1 started the job other crew was suppose to have finished it but failed to
