Any owners doing oversize or heavy haul? I'd like to try it and well to make more money. With me at my motor carrier it's like freight is super slow. I sat Monday afternoon and Tuesday in Atlanta! What the heck! Another driver here sat the last two weekends! Last weekend he was empty in Phoenix and the weekend before that he was empty in Tennessee and unloaded Friday at after 6 p.m. I'd be pissed. Main reason I'm thinking about leaving is because they can't keep me moving enough sometimes and the safety is getting a little huffy over little stuff. Like bobtailing off duty drive to go home in my own truck. I'd like to get on with a company that isnt so big and is more family orientated to help the driver be successful. I'm in the Atlanta area but dont care to be home just wanting to run to make money to keep up with this truck.

Have you contacted places that do low bedding and see if they can use an OO to pull their trailers. I prefer hauling heavy equipment over anything else, just my personal choice.

Od freight can be extremely difficult to qoute especially if you're new to it. You sit A LOT on OD freight as well. You have night time restrictions, holiday restrictions, weekend restrictions, weather restrictions. Hell, Nebraska has traffic restrictions the day of football games in Lincoln. Some states require pilot cars at 12' and some at 14' wide. permit costs vary by state as well and individual counties can make their own rules to. IMO OD is more trouble than it's worth especially considering the increased risk and liability. Most the Megas have the OD bid down to garbage rates anyways.

As a one man operation....I gave it up.

It was a lot of work and honestly the offer$ and even my counter offer$ were not enough to justify moving OD.

If I ever do them again I will set MYSELF up in OH and surrounding states and that is all I will do them in and I will still qoute very high.

I got a load today. Well, I'll pick it up tomorrow. To freakin' Maine from Atlanta. Wow right. As long as I get a good one out. I may have to get a load of lumber but I dont have 8 ft drops. Anyways.

I’ve tried several. Not worth it unless you go big with your equipment. Anyone can and dose on 5 axles. Most of the time for the SAME rates as legally loads.

Not worth the extra risk in most cases.

Your dispatcher is garbage. I've been running the north west Georgia and Tennessee area since last Friday making 700-800 a day on 200 mile runs or less counting deadhead off of DAT loadboards mainly with some ITS mixed in.

Where I'm leased onto hasn't had tons of freight either, seems slow for lots of folks right now...
