Doc put me on insulin and I called about the waiver. They told me 5-6 months just to process and that's if they grant me one. That's not including the doctors and 57 screenings. I weighed it out and decided that's enough. I'm tired of all the hoops we have to jump through just to add more. I really enjoyed my short career on the road and I will miss it. Seen some really special places

I highly recommend eating more salads and exercise. That way you do not have to be in my shoes one day.

Many drivers are on insulin and don't reveal it. I know one that retired recently and he was on insulin, maybe 20 years, and kept it to himself.

Yes, he kept his family physician and DOT doctor separate and didn't tell the DOT doctor anything about his medical records with the family physician.
Now he has a comfortable retirement and doing good.

I went on Insulin because of my injuries, nothing else. The docs don't know what triggered the my glucose lever averages to go up but it sealed the deal for me be off the road and retired. It sucks.

I was diagnosed last summer and placed on pills. Then the pills didn't work so well and my numbers shot up to 500+. At that point the doc said insulin time. I really thought about keeping quiet, but I can not pick my nose without getting caught. I'll probably buy a tractor or maybe a skid steer and do something along those lines. A buddy wants me to work at a factory and that destroys me. I enjoyed being my own boss. It suited me, but in the end bills have to be paid. Sorry for the sob story.
