Never heard I-95 referred to as an "extreme" drive... Guess I never drove those grades! I-15 sure, but I-95? I am very much enjoying this thread. GOAL GOAL GOAL ........... If the truck will fit you can back up one inch then get out and look. My backing epiphany came when there was only one spot left at the flying j in knoxville and I was due for a shower. It took a while and traffic backed up all the way out on I40 as I backed up a few inches and got out and checked but I made it. Amazingly enough no one helped out, just sat there griping. To this day I get out and look if my intuition kicks in.

Hey buddy, I'm only going to add one thing to all the good advice you're getting here. Remember, you're being "trained" and that means it gets tougher as you go. Keep your cool and mostly your FAITH in yourself and you'll do fine. Just like school buddy! Remember?
OK...This is a bit off subject, and everyone but me may know this, but Gitty whose posts I also read posted this for newbie drivers, and I plan to become one. He writes: Once you get out on the big road. And you are stuck in a city and can't leave a shipper or receivers, cause you are being loaded or unloaded, and you are there for a long time, and you are starving 1 800 dominos will deliver as long as the town has a dominos. You can tell them the address your at and they will find the store closest to you. Just tell them you are a truck driver and what company you drive for and give your cell # so they can call you when they get there. Also please tip, they just made sure you had a full belly. Seems like a pretty good thing if needed. Kind of like in case of emergency, break glass...like one more tool for the box. Merlin

Good way to go broke. Keep food in the truck. Have stuff that doesn't require cooking. And a means to cook the stuff that needs cooking. What happens if you are stuck on the road in a snow storm with no food?
I believe this was re-posted to let people know that dominoes will deliver to your truck. Nice to know for a change of pace if you can't go anywhere and decide you want pizza instead of whatever you have left over in the cooler or fridge.
I'm exhausted! I'm now down to about 65 hours left in my training. I'll provide updates at some point, and believe me some interesting stuff happened, but I'm tired! Just wanted to update all of you to let you know that I'm doing okay. Thanks for all of the encouragement. I think back to this place everyday when I'm on the road.
