HI all!!! Just got a message from Chris (Chralb) and Openroadguy is still around cuz Chris spoke to him! They were both dropping loads in Missouri and ORG was getting some home time. Chris and ORG are hoping to hook up in the next day or so as Chris said he was about 120miles behind him and they are hoping they can sit down and have lunch or whatever!!!

You know ORG's posts are typically long and informative and once you get rolling 70 hours a week that's going to be hard to keep up.

Maybe he feels if he doesn't do his norm he's not living up to the standards. :)

just drop us a few lines here and there ORG, as much as we love the long informative posts, a few lines would suffice to the masses. ;)

    Be safe out there drivers.

Sure glad to here "all present and accounted for".
The posts from ORG and chralb are sure good reading and very informative.
Personally, they really should be strongly suggested reading by the mod somehow without an endorsement. The importance of considering the steps in the process is.
Now I'm extremely interested in how ORG sees the recent past and the near future with some experience under his belt. How does he feel about his decisions, etc. Both him and Chris are very good writers. Just my .02...again.

    Wedge Thanks this.

I'll take a dozen at that price.

    The bump wasn't free, amigo.
We had to listen to you sing --------- :biggrin_25523:
BTW, is it necessary to report the bumps to the DOT?

Look at it this way, -----> Suppose you had two choices, ..............
    1. Climb in a Big truck, fire 'er up, slip 'er in gear, release the brakes, ease out the clutch pedal and git on out thar on the highway, drivin' your life away, seein' the sights --- lookin' ever so fine.
    Or?...............................,
    2. Write good, quality posts every day before the engine will even start.

I think good writers write their best when they're in the mood to write and aren't pressed for time. I speak from experience when I tell y'all that SOMEtimes, ....... the schedule y'all are on out thar on the road doesn't mesh with a real schedule, and becomes a hassle to communicate for some drivers, especially when first starting out. Those keepin' the home-fires burnin' shouldn't take that as being ignored. If they didn't call, they're thinkin' 'bout that, so y'all haven't been forgotten. Believe me, the guilt trip is hard to forget.
Don't put unnecessary quilt trips in the minds of Big truck truck drivers. Drivin' a Big truck provides a lot of time to think. Time goes by a tad easier when the thoughts make the heart grow fonder.
    Big truck truckin' --- it's a trip.

And, for the record, ........ I think that those who remain at the home-20 and keep the home-fires burnin' have a harder job than their Big truck truck drivin' other half, or significant other.
That's my story and I'm stuck with it.

Oh ye of little faith. :biggrin_25525:

Now, ..... that right thar is a good sign, ....... right?
    Imagine that.
Meetin' up in the Show Me State, --- off all places.
    That would be cool.

    It's twue!
    It's twue!

    B I N G O !!
I think you've hit the head right on the nail. :violent1::smt045:thumbleft:

It would be nice to hear from ORG, but I think (and I could be wrong) that right now is the most crucial time for him, and he really can't make this thread a priority.

Anyone following ORG from start wouldn't have had any doubt that he'd make it at least this far given his attitude and desire. But that will take you only so far, and right now the hard, cold reality of his decision and the life of a trucker is hitting him. All the training, schooling, research, etc., is no substitute for the actual experience, and the first year is very tough. Really it seems you either have it in your blood or you don't to make it in this career, and it's not something you can manufacter.

Right now I think it's just starting to sink in with him whether or not this is the career for him, and the answer will come from the heart. It's a lot to deal with right now, but if 6 months to a year from now ORG (or any other rookie for that matter) can honestly say that he's happy with his decision and still loves what he's doing then there's an excellent chance he'll make this his career. But he's gotta go through this difficult period to get to that point.
