Schneider helps driver with sleep apnea they do the test themselves and set drivers up. Prime Inc will basically do the same but I think Prime makes drivers pay for the sleep test they give and you have to pay back the CPAP if test says you need one. Most big companies will require a Medical card from their doctor.

@UKwildcatfan you could ask insurance why they denied something their doctor says you need. Seem kinda crazy that they could do that. I could see if you went to sleep doctor and he said you don't need the test. Maybe you insurance has the home test setup they would approve vs going to sleep lab.

Maybe, but it's a move in the right direction. Some companies will work with you on paying for it. Whether that means they cover it all, split it with you, or deduct from future checks, it would at least get you in the door.

Will the mega pay for the sleep test or just the machine? Is it really easy to pass the cdl test? I know the written isnt that rough, but I imagined the skills test was pretty hard.

It's not difficult. Pre-trip, back through the cones, drive around the block, get on the highway and back off. I failed the backing part the first time I took the test, the CDL school I went to gave so little time on the backing pad that I wasn't prepared. Didn't help that backing isn't my strong suit.

The sleep apnea testing is going to vary by company. I've never gone through it, but I understand that many companies pay for the actual test, and then take payroll deductions for the machine.

I didn't start yet but i disagree these companies hire anyone with a clean drivers license and can inhale and exhale. I watch a ton of youtube for entertainment and i see new truckers from all walks of life and fatties too. Try CR England.

There is no shortage, there is no more doctor shopping and if you want to enter this industry, then do what the rest of us have to do every year or two to keep our CDL.
