That's actually a good enough idea to market. I've never been able to figure out how the heck to get those corner protectors to stay on there. They even move after you've got it tarped and gone down the road. I just don't use them because of that.
Yes but they only work for steel. And as most things I think up, somebody else with money will patent the idea and market it.
I just came up with a novel way to deal with tarps Now I have 2 25 by27 with end flaps 2 20 by24s 2 16 by24s one 16 by 20 and 2 10 by 12 smoke tarps plus 64 by 24 foot of felt padding material I took all of them off my trailer yesterday and gonna put them in retirement and put my head bord and sidekit bac kon and go haul coils which is what I like to do.
I like using skid pads a lot better than carpet pieces. They don't suck up water like carpet. They stay in place and don't slide around and where like iron. If it's real cold out and tarps are super stiff after folding them I will put my tires on the ends of the tarps and then roll them up that way I could pull them tight when I roll them. Works great when everything is snow-covered. Another good helpful hint when it's going to snow at night always Park 30 to 50 miles away from delivery that way when you get there the is snow blown off your tarps.
Do the right marketing, and bring it to market first, and don't worry about the patent. That's how The Club was done. They didn't bother with a patent first. They marketed the hell out of it, and made millions before anyone else imitated or tried to patent the idea.
cardboard, capert, mud flaps, diapers, skid mats, tape, bungees, and rope that i did not see metioned, and most anything else you can think of comes in handy on different things. personally i have 4' x5' peices of carpet i use the most. some tubing has a razor edge that will take a lot of padding. some machinery takes a lot of padding. some bungees dont stretch well @ -10*. rope workes well.
