Hello all, here's the scenario. I have an opportunity to make a Power Only run for a special customer and am looking for advice on the rate. The run is pulling the customer's pre-loaded Dry Van about a 5000 mile round trip with no stops along the way. This is a fairly simple out and back run with zero deadhead. Generally, what might you quote for a dedicated run like this?
I'm new and quoting this run, looking for helpful input.

Preloaded? Loaded both ways?
5000 miles.
Fuel burn will be 850 gallons running and one driver can do this in about 14 days. 10 gallons idle each night causes the total fuel to be about 1100 gallons needed. At 3.50 a gallon it's 3850 dollars just in fuel cost.
Driver gets paid 5000 miles x.70 3500 so we are now around 7350 so far.
Throw in about 3000 for equiptment costs for two weeks period. Call it a even 10,000 and done. SOme profit will be made but not very much.
Did I nail it?K Wopper906 and SoCal Trucker Thank this. -
Do you want to pay off your tractor or simply pay on your tractor? You don’t need to pay it off in one load but…… I am learning that working for a company and letting someone else carry all the risk is not all that bad. One speeding ticket will end a new owner operator, as the insurance is only good for a clean driving history. How do you calculate that cost in RISK?

There isn't enough information. Is the run in the mountains hauling 45K or 2k on flats? What's the condition of the trailer? Does it track straight?--this will affect your MPG. If you are looking to make this run THIS week, DOT blitz starts tomorrow, so plan for at least one stop (maybe).

No but you need to share whatever you are smoking. 14 days to go 5000 miles?snowwy, spyder7723, EverLuc and 7 others Thank this.

Additional info: Will be pulling the customer's leased trailer (under 10 years old) and will be hauling about 35K from customer's home base, out to the desert and then back to home base (loaded both ways). Mostly southern half of the US.

If I don’t like PA and I drive 65 I know it would drive you insane. Interstate speed limit is 45 and 55. Work zones for 75 mile stretches. And toll roads!! On second thought you might like it up there..lol..

I'd do it for $7500.......easy money if you asked me. And if you need someone to pull it, I'm in south GA with power but no authority
