I hauled a few vehicles for my then boss in a dry van.one of those vehicles was his.I imagine its much cheaper then having an outsider haul it.

It's definitely legal to do, but like with some other things legality doesn't always make it a good idea.
The big issue I see there is the slick side trailer, which obviously presents securement issues.AM14 Thanks this. -

A lot of the truck repo guys come in a rental or company car and do what you did to the van & drive the truck to home base.
