I'm not asking why, just how.

What's the issue? Don't slam on the brakes, and don't put yourself in a position where you may have to brake hard.

The load lock is funny tho. It's not stopping that van, or half the things drivers put them up for. Load locks are good for basically one thing, light weight freight. Boxes of cereal for example. even canned goods. Not a five thousand pound vehicle, or roll of paper.

I have hauled cars in an end-dump before. Granted, the walls and tailgate is stronger on an end-dump, but there is also no load locks. Just make sure the emergency brake is on and get on down the road.....

We once had a truck come by our warehouse for a pick up going to Serbia (I live in the UK). When he opened up the curtain sider trailer there was a brand new Mercedes E350 in the back, no straps, no tie downs, no chocks at all.

I didn't hold out much hope of it getting there undamaged, especially with a North Sea ferry crossing. Having said that, I suspect that the "owner" of the car got it for such a good price that they could easily afford any repairs. ;)

Many stolen cars & pickup trucks are shipped out of the USA on ships. ISIS ended up with a used pickup truck that had a Texas plumbing company name and phone number still on it. ISIS had a heavy gun mounted in the bed. The plumbing company said they traded the truck in for a new one and didn't take the decals off. That was verified, but no one can explain how it went from a Texas used car lot to the Middle East.

You'll be okay I drove two fedex Mercedes vans from Colorado,to Sacramento.mimwas in a dry van what I did was tie straps around the axles and then to the walls. I really didn't care if they went through the back door. I care if rear end someone while texting or watching a movie and they run me over.

We have lots of used (and stolen) cars that are loaded in containers usually destined for Africa. If that ship docks in places like Libya and Syria I have no doubts that a few extra containers may be "accidentally" unloaded there rather than the destination listed on the shipping papers.

ISIS has some very wealthy backers. They have no shortage of money to supply their buyers around the world. Their fleet of brand new Toyota Hiluxes when footage of their rise first emerged is a testament to that. I always wondered what sort of channels the buyers had to go through to place that order. I doubt they just walked into local Toyota dealerships. That volume of identical vehicles had to be placed as a fleet order...but who for?.

Probably the Saudi Royal Family, but won't be held accountable because they're USA and England's BFF.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to it than just being BFFs.

Warfare is a very profitable industry.
