yep sure do, a happy wife makes a better life lol. I did have something lined up but switching my license to illinois is crazy but i had JB HUNT call me yesterday for a dedicated home everyday. They ll give me 30 days to switch it over. Theres plenty of companies hiring for local in chicago with 1-2 yrs experience unlike phoenix where i live now nothing is availible i have a couple things lined up but gonna stay on the road til prob june just to save up to get a good place in the suburbs.
Good deal. Hope the transition goes smoothly. I am leaning heavily towards May right now for my own personal reasons so if I happen to get on with them maybe we will cross paths before you get gone. BTW, Chicago, are you from there or have family there?
Sounds good Joker. I wish you well! You're right, there's lots of options for guys with some experience and a clean driving record. I don't live near a metro area. I'm in a rural area and the only local jobs are hauling wood chips or logs for $15 an hour and I'm not into either one of those gigs. My stint at Market was nice last summer doing Portland/L.A. I was home a few times a week, however, after my mom died, I was open to going 48 again. May really wanted me back, my priorities changed and back I came. The situation just couldn't be any better for me at May. My terminal boss is great, my DM is wonderful, I have a great ride, my trainees have all been cool dudes and my miles have been off the chart, which equals some nice dinero
. I'm originally from aurora, the second Biggest city in illinois and also where the movie waynes world was filmed haha. I lived there for 20years 3 in san diego in the navy and 4 in arizona. And thats where my fiance is at so that's where I gotta go.
And I couldn't believe how many driving opportunities there are in chicago for local its nice I just hope I land the right gig. You can make good money local and sometimes more than otr if u find the right gig. So thats what I'm doing now research.
Here's a sample of how May keeps me running, keep in mind, May does not permit trainers to run as a team. Were allowed to "drive" the 14 hr rule between the two and that's it, unlike Swift and other training companies that permit the trainer and training to run as a team. I picked new student on Wed the 7th and have done: Fontana to Brooks To Alabama To Chicago To Upstate New York To New Jersey To Virginia To Ohio To Boise To Brooks That's 9,540 running miles in two weeks and three days which included two 34 hr restarts, hometime on the first restart. Never waited more than 1 hr to be loaded/unloaded and had 3 drop and hooks. I will be home tonight for three days and do it all over again Not too bad of a gig, I'd say.
oh i know, i gotta get a student back on my truck to start making some extra money for when i get my place i can deck it out
I like training. Like anyone else, I need to take a break from time to time. For the most part it's been a very rewarding part of my job, I'm a people person and like having someone around to converse with and to pass on what I've learned in this industry.
yea i had my fiance with me for 3 months. After she left i was going nuts with noone to talk to. So thats when i started. I didnt even know how i drove by myself it was so boring after she left or when i have no students
