Im sure that few newer drivers realize how much smart phones have changed trucking.

All that would do is kill the phone, not the info in the phone. If it's a company phone they don't need a warrant. If it's your phone they do unless you give consent.

 

Most companies keep around 5 days worth of text messages..After that it's unavailable on their end, but of course can be retrieved on your phone.

 

I saw that texts itself at not retrieveable just a time/date stamp and it saying text sent..

 

That may be true on your bill, but not true at all through the cell phone provider or your phone.

 

Yes through the phone provider..been there done that..

First time I found and booked a load entirely on my Samsung Galaxy and while I was driving last week. I normally use my laptop but thought I'd browse ITS app for loads back to Nash from Memph. Called on one broker we were already set up with, rate was OK and viola, an email load conf was on it's way.

It's not something I normally do, as I hate looking at a laptop or phone screen while driving because I'm all over my lane. But I gave it a quick shot and got lucky.

 

Nice finding a load that way saves money and time..

 

I know a guy that worked at Google, he tells me that they keep every single piece of information that they gather, EVERYTHING! They also work closely with the government...hmm. Of course this is hear-say and not admissible in court, but still scary.

I use many of the Apps in the "Want kind of apps do you use" thread.

I can locate truck stops easily, use my GPS, get free wifi to my laptop, find a quick route around a closed road or backed up traffic, get weather info in any town.

Every time I hear some driver asking what town he is in I want to tell him to hit the home button on the The Weather Channel app
