This is truly frightening to me. I have to admit I am struggling out here and it would not surprise me to make that list. Some of these Walmart express stores have been challenging for me to get in and out of with their tiny parking lots and dock areas (one night there was an incident involving a yield sign). Add into that how much I have gotten lost due to a lack of a solid nav system ( NaviGo is broke, Google maps doesn't cut it/know truck routes and I can't yet afford a real truck gps) resulting in a stuck truck and a tow bill another night. My inexperience is is showing through and my first full week on my own was arguably a disaster.

Why what you posted frightens me is the sims. I don't know how much better the new ones are over the old ones but odds are I will still have the same problems. I've made my feelings about them known before, but I really do hate them. Much for the same reason I don't like video games. The best way I describe it is that my eyes don't focus on the images correctly and my eyes/brain get confused about what I am seeing. It just doesn't process right in my head. The prior Smith System eval was a struggle for me to pass because I couldn't judge the distances almost at all. If I make that list, odds are pretty good I will be applying for a yard dog job or with soda distributor.

Its your first week out. Use a map like the RMCA, Google maps and the store instructions. Take it slow, get out and look often- don't guess about the relationship of the truck to fixed objects. They're not "trying to get you" with this deal; its help for those who are really having a hard time.

Hey... its your first week out. This truck driving stuff is a little harder than it looks on the surface.

Yes, it definitely is harder than it looks. If I am being completely honest, every bit of this process has been hard work for me. Not a single thing about driving a truck has come easily or even with moderate effort. Every bit of progress I have made came from sweating it out through hard repetition. I am a person that requires clear detailed instructions prior to engaging a task. So much of this job is "just wing it and figure it out" or being expected to just know how things are supposed to be done. That's not my strong suit. It is probably a good thing I don't plan to stay in this job on the long term as I know I will only ever be a passable driver with a few dings on the DAC. I'll never be a really good one as this job is well outside of my natural skill set. I'm ok with that.

I also know that nobody is out to get me. I know that if I end up being told to head back to SpriMo for remedial training, it was deserved and needed. I will have made enough errors to have shown that I am adanger to not just myself, but other folks on the road with me. I was just expressing concern over a personal weakness that very well could result in me parting ways with the company if it came down to it, the sims.

Collimated out-the-window vision systems for Sims are humongously expensive, but they do relieve the kind of problem you have with them. It's not uncommon.

Give it time. Driving a truck is an acquired skill set, and experience is the best teacher in all of this. Just always be aware of where your trailer is.

Hey, you mean your not a super trucker yet? LOL :biggrin_25523:

Your doing fine. Training just got you the basics to get going & it's almost overwhelming to most folks right at first on their own. It's definately a learn as you go from experience thing. No way to see it all in training. You will always be running into new situations, even years out, & problem solving is a must out here. It's all in how you handle the situations when they occur. And, it is a certainty there will be frustrating situations!

Are you going to screw up & make mistakes? Of course. But, you will hopefully learn from them & not repeat.

It's rough at first, but trust me...... it WILL get better & more comfortable with time & experience. We have all paid our dues in the beginning.

KAZZYBOY you need to look at it from a different perspective. You are new and need to prove yourself. Be the first one to volunteer and take the high road.
i agree with Prime if there are accidents then winter training is needed.
