The NRC inspector is going to be the most thorough on a move like that. I've seen a guy get failed for a bad tire on a flipped up flip axle that wasn't needed for the move! It was eventually overturned by a supervisor, but that's how picky they are.
-
TQL had it at 80 cents a mile,Just kidding It was really 83 cents per mileSHC Thanks this.
-
And imagine if some hotshot DOT guy made you pull into to scale that. You would be there all day with that many axles.
I think the biggest challenge would be routing the load over bridges wide enough and strong enough to cross. I wouldn't imagine they would let the thing on the interstate. -
Haha! Need to get your info on that one. There's a pic of one of these on the LS corp page. I'd be willing to bet they were the broker on this.
-
They offered it to me for a buck!

it is. they are hauling that one now and 2 more loads next year. the trip is taking up to 3 weeks to make according to the news media. was on tv last week as the prepared to leave out. same load but they wont say the routes they are taking.....

Yep a friend of mine works for Perkins. He's on another job now..
Might have to call him and see if they brokered it from the big blue star. I really doubt they did though. I believe direct customer.
I do know they had to custom build the trailer.. -
I don't think I've ever seen a brokered rad load.
-
Excuse my ignorance: being that I don't haul that type of product, why is it that it isn't encapsulated in smaller containers that don't need to have that kind of equipment used? Or is it the entire vessel that would be considered radioactive? Wouldn't it be a much smaller unit inside the large vessel on the trailer? Just thinking out loud...
