Have to say when you do it you do it right. :biggrin_25514:Anytime you stop the first thing you do BEFORE you release brakes and engage trans. is look in your mirrors for said dummies that pull right in behind you w/out giving you adequate space or warning. Had numerous times with people you work with on job sites do this. DO NOT PULL RIGHT UP TIGHT IN MY BLINDSIDE! The word soon gets out to STFA from that truck.:biggrin_25524: You may not like me but you will respect my truck. Lessoned learned.

This is far and away not the most serious thing that could have happened. Bottom line though is that you do not roll backwards....you just don't do it. I suppose if a lawyer really needed the business, he could chalk it up to something like "not controlling the vehicle".

Even if Joseph W. Blow pulls up right behind me at a stop sign at which we are pointed up-grade, I can not roll back. Period. It's part of the proper CDL training. But don't sweat it, man. You sound like you've got a good head on your shoulders. Stay with it, and good luck.

Will not affect you getting your CDL. Couple questions that might though.

Since you were basically driving on a permit, was there another person with a valid license in the truck at the time? If not were you cited for operating the vehicle without someone with you?

Id try to fight it. Worst case you cath the points. Best case it's only a fine. Really nothing to lose if it's your home area.

And you, sir, should perhaps work on your reading comprehension.

Plain and simple, your stay back signs do not release you from the responsibility of GOAL. Get Out And Look. Pay the ticket, learn from your mistake and enjoy the rest of your life. Don't let the simple things get in your way.

    Really?
You roll back and since it only rolled back 1 foot - you're not at fault?
    That's a good story...I'd stick to that.

    :biggrin_2556:

    Dude, either way....
This will not affect your getting a CDL - no worries there.
Just be more careful. I too wonder why the cop was behind you and so close, but that still isn't an excuse.
Interesting - but not an excuse.

just say the charger charged u!!! lol but no in all honesty never roll back when u release the brake just keep ur foot on the brake not a big deal probally not worth fighting in court especially if ur just doing ur own thing talk to your insurence guy and see what they say aside from that learn and move on

and to the guy that say he cant back a tow truck that he should give up getting his cdl. learn how to read the OP if u tell me that u never rolled an inch in ur entire career i will call u a liar hell even autos roll back on steep grades from time to time

I would go and see a judge, this cop was too close to your rig. If you are sitting there a while, if you are going to backed up, get out and look, but if it's like you are saying it, if that's what really happend only rolled back 1 or two feet, i would see the judge because that's a hazard what that cop did, he's a cop and he might be a rookie! it doesen't mean he's better than you because he a cop?
