Nah, I'm pretty sure I read it correctly. He drives a tow truck and he let it roll back into another vehicle. I stand by my previous statement even more now that he thinks because the truck only rolled back a foot he is not at fault. Whether it is rolling or being propelled backwards its still backing. I've been driving 6+ years and never hit anything. well, I hit a deer once but it ran out in front of me. That thing exploded like I've never seen before!

Go get your CDL, no big deal. It was on private property anyway; wonder why the cop was on private property? Ask a lawyer about the private property issue.
mje Thanks this. -
fight it, what i want to know is wtf is a cop doing parking that close to the rear of your truck in the first place??????? A foot roll back, that means my shoe will just fit between your vechicles.... And thats a question i would be asking in court in front of the judge........ Sounds like the cop should be getting a ticket for stupidity instead of you.....

Maybe the cop had already hit something and is using this guy to cover it.

Another factor to look into: If it is in fact a "private" road, verify that the law enforcement agency that issued the citation has jurisdiction on this road. In many areas if they do not have an agreement with the home owners association, or legal "owner" of such road, then the citation is null and void. I have seen it in the past where someone calls the police in regards to a reckless driver, speeder, etc, on a private road, and the response is " We can't do anything about it, it is a private road" If that is the case with the road in question, then there is your out.
Chinatown Thanks this. -

You could definitely get a job at Swift.

The OP did state he put his truck in gear. Whether it was in reverse or not is unclear.
