Most of the OP's case is essentially not revelant.
I knew what I was getting into long before I actually got old enough to get into it for real back in the 80's more or less it worked out well. Stories yes, but in the end it worked out.
In 10 years what has not changed..

i think it is a newbie (or at the very least a steering wheel holder) of less than 2 years, and was expecting a road of milk and honey and a bunk bed full of roses. to not know the job at hand and to believe all that a recruiter sells them to get them to orientation.
we cannot expect those that are easily swayed to really expect anything but the best of the best of circumstances, and entitlements.... but to rather mouth off when just one thing, expands to several things of displeasure to them.
everyone wants a paycheck, but with no work or "some" minor inconveniences involved. heck, mechanics get a good paycheck, but MUST get dirty while doing so.
bakers get a good paycheck, but must put in long late night/early morning hours to do so.
office workers get a good paycheck, but must put up with the office rat, or other politics.
every job has it's good points and bad, you sign on and if you do not like it, you move on...
i find that rather simple than to call people hogs or slaves to any job that they were hired on to do.
no one is holding a gun to anyone's head, nor no one is chained down.

FMSA don't have employee's with CDL , they have 0 idea what are you taking about. Big companies pushed this ELD laws , now they will have to enjoi it

Buddy’s comments are exactly right!
The OPs rant is just that! If you don’t like the rules or how you’re treated then go find another career. Most companies in the good ole USA have a hiring sign.Voodoo Pyg, Lonesome, buddyd157 and 5 others Thank this. -
When I got into trucking, I had spent 25 years working rotating shifts. Midz, dayz, swings. I pull reefer, so adapting to the odd hours was easy. That being said, I am amazed at the snowflakes who squawk, call mommy, etc. when they find out trucking is not 9 to 5. I thought this cupcake generation was at least internet savvy and did some research before they got their CDL. Trucking is not a day weenie job, even if you pull dry van.

My favorite part was when @buddyd157 broke out the 48 years behind the wheel. He has forgotten more about trucking than most fools will ever know.
